Hi everyone ! I'm 44 , female & get my ch in my left eye. I have had it for the last 12 years but only after 3 unsuccessful operations & tons of medication , did I manage to get the correct diagnosis! At first it used to come & go at 12 month+ intervals but has turned chronic since Dec 2005. Current meds: A injected combination of Pethidene,Stemital & Largactal is 80% effective in aborting an attack. I use Lignocaine local anesthetic in a nasal spray pump to keep the pain bearable. If used early enough it can abort the ch! Unfortunately in SA we only get 2% solution , I believe 4% is more effective. Oxygen , as well as any other local medication has had no effect. The 3rd operation , when the "naughty nerve" was cut , left me without feeling in the facial area , no tears , no nasal drip , no smell and blurred vision , all on the left-hand side. 3 months after the op , the pain was back

Hi Estie, welcome and sorry you're here and hurting. I'm episodic, when you say you turned chronic in December, does that mean you've been in a cycle and December was the 1 yr anniversary of it? If your cycle started in Dec, you're not chronic yet! What about O2? You say it didn't work. Did you use a hi-flow regulator and a non-rebreather mask? I hope you find some relief. Here is a document with great info on meds. http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf PF wishes. Jose
