Convention 2008 Site Announced! There were two bids for the site for the 2008 OUCH Convention: Portland, Oregon and Dallas, Texas. The author of the Portland bid pulled the bid, leaving Dallas as the only submission. Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that the host city for the 2008 OUCH Convention will be Dallas, Texas. Information on hotel, registration fees, speakers and more will be reported as it becomes available. If you would like to host a convention, now is the time to start thinking about 2009 and beyond. If you would like to host a convention, please start scouting your site and gathering information now. To assist you in getting the necessary information for your convention bid, we have developed this Request for Proposal. Also, to assist in making your report about the various hotels, download this Hotel Report Form. For more information as it develops, please check the OUCH Conventions & Gatherings page: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings.htm OUCH “Volunteer Center” Opened! Volunteers are the backbone of any non-profit organization. The Organization for Understanding Cluster Headaches operates solely on volunteer labor. In order to help members decide where they might best fit in and to help OUCH recruit qualified, hard working people, we’ve made some changes to the Volunteer Application page in the Members‘ Area. Instead of a beg for help and an online form, visitors will now find an Organizational Chart, a list of Key Responsibilities and Position Descriptions for each committee and team, a copy of the OUCH Code of Conduct for volunteers, a Help Wanted section listing where help is needed and, of course, the Volunteer Application. If you are interested in working with others to help OUCH fulfill its mission, please visit the OUCH Volunteer Center in the Members’ Area. http://www.ouch-us.org/members/surveys/volunteer_application.htm ***You will need to be registered and log in to access this page. O2 Users Support Team Gets New Leader Steve Lichens is the new leader of the O2 Users Support Team. A big thanks to Steve for stepping up to do this! To contact Steve and the O2 Users Support Team, please e-mail o2help@ouch-us.org. For information on using O2 as a CH abortive, check out the Support Team pages at: http://www.ouch-us.org/medications/oxygen/o2info.shtml We want to hear from you! The staff and management of OUCH want your input. Please send any questions, comments or suggestions to us at: contact_ouch@ouch-us.org Edited to add info about O2 Users Support Team

While the hotel was very nice and they gave us great rates, my only input would be to see if we could find a hotel closer to the airport. It was a long way away. Of course, one major thing we have to find out is their policy on smoking anywhere other than the rooms. That seems to be getting harder and harder.

| I agree, Jimi. One of the criteria for hotel selection for all future conventions is proximity to the airport and/or the availability of a free shuttle to and from the airport. Another selection factor is the existence of smoking rooms. Unfortunately, more and more hotels are going smoke free. While most of those without smoking rooms still allow smoking in designated areas, there are some that don't. I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Spokane, Washington a few years ago where there was an on the spot fine if caught smoking anywhere on the hotel grounds. That was back when I still smoked and it sucked royally. Our goal is to book a hotel with decent rates both for the sleeping rooms and convention space/equipment/food, smoking rooms and free airport shuttle. Fortunately, we have members in Dallas with experience in negotiating with the hotels. I can't wait to see y'all in Dallas!

The heat and humidity in Dallas last time didn't bode well with my head. (the hurricaine blowing in didn't help matters either) Not sure I'm willing to risk it at this point or not. Only time will tell.

I'm so excited! I wanted to propose maui as a host site this year but with my niece is getting married in July in the Uk and a promised holiday in Scotland afterwards, I was worried I wouldn't have the stamina to do both....BUT, even though I may not have enough energy to help host, I do have enough to get my ass on a plane and just hang out with some clusterheads for the weekend So, see ya'll there! Should I bring some extra macadamias?

Last time in Dallas, many people were getting hit out of cycle, and having unexpected random hits. Bring on the O2. And it's hotter than hell in Dallas in the summer, along with high humidity, so bring your air conditioned suits. And your imitrex.

Huge fan of Dallas. As long as the hotel is a family friendly resort type WE will be there. It needs to be near restaurants and a mall. Being near the airport does not guarantee it being a really nice environment. It means that it is a place to stay short term between flights. I thought Dallas 05 was lovely but I hear Milwaukee was outstanding. Richmond was nice because of the people but there was NOTHING to do with exception of taking a drive and walking a historic strip. It is important that we have places to go with eachother and a nice area to hangout together in. I'm a smoker but would give up having smoke filled room for larger more comfortable stay. Maybe NY someday as it is really not that much more in comparison and we have tons to do. 2010?

| Of course. Thats mandatory. Hawaii in 2009.......New York in 2010. Sounds like a plan to me. Eric, have your wife get with Ruth and Jane. They spent all day Saturday shopping at Malls in Dallas.

| Would that be Ritz crackers or Zesta saltines, although I do believe that you'd be more comfortable in the Zesta box . Look forward to seeing you there Matt. Don't know if the old man will be with me or not. If he's not, mmost likely daughter will be. How about I do some baking for the forum discussions? A nice assortment of cookies would be nice, don't you think?

| Oh, yeah. Bente joined them while we were in the Saturday sessions in Milwaukee, too. Even though they didn't buy a lot of stuff, they had ball. Things to do shouldn't be a problem in Dallas if we book close to the airport. Within a few miles of DFW, there are shopping malls, golf courses, Texas Stadium, Ranger Stadium, horse racing, lakes, parks and Six Flags Over Texas. There are always people with cars at conventions who are happy to do the car pool thing to see the sights. I know that Jane and I will be driving down.
