This is terrible news in my own backyard! I can't believe he wasn't caught sooner with evidence tampering.

Quote:Hughes missed 40 percent of his scheduled work days because of a painful condition known as cluster headaches. He underwent a surgical procedure in early 2006 that involved the placement of an electrode in his brain that much reduced the headaches... |
| Two things come to mind. You wonder what kind of treatment he was getting prior to the surgery to miss so much work. Was he previously on pain medication for clusters that may have become a habit never attended to and the temptation arose, they've pretty much got a smoking gun on the fact he was using. And how successful was the surgery really?

This from yesterday's story. Quote:A warrant to search Hughes ' car approved on Nov. 27 said... At a court hearing on Nov. 29 at which the search warrant results were temporarily sealed, ... Search warrant results and supporting documentation unsealed in Dane County Circuit Court on Friday detail what investigators believe happened... |
| This from Dec. 6th. Quote:By Karen Rivedal 608-252-6106 December 6, 2007 At the request of Madison police, the Dane County Sheriff 's Office has begun a criminal investigation related to the one-car crash that seriously injured a Madison detective on Nov. 20 -- even as the State Patrol trooper who investigated the crash says he saw no evidence of anything criminal. "Not even in my wildest dreams am I looking at any type of crash investigation that 's criminal in nature, " Trooper Tim Redman said Thursday. "I didn't see anything that would lead me down that path. " |
| Apparently with the warrant results sealed, absolutely no clue could be given on Dec. 6th by state's investigating trooper, even though Madison's police had evidence of a criminal nature on Nov. 20th. Quote:Madison Sgt. Jen Krueger-Favour and Central District Capt. Mary Schauf went through the bag on Nov. 20 and documented its contents, including the bag of heroin with the corner "ripped open, " five needles and several old police reports about drug investigations. |
| Although I don't know what a Central District Captain is, whether that is Madison or state. (the Dec. 6th story is on the "specifics" board, half way down the page, thread by SoCal.)
