Why would someone jump from skidding car onto a icey street with out of control cars all around them?  Roll Eyes

Haven't these people heard of chains or studded tires?

Some states, like WI have made such things illegal.

And for once, as a taxpayer in the state of WI, I thank the legislature (none of whom are even there anymore). Those things ate highways for lunch.

Here studs and chains a no-no but good snow tires and COMMON SENSE makes all the difference.

What Bill said, why would one exit out of an out of control skidding car?

And another thing drivers of 4WD vehicles need to remember:

Four-wheel drive does not mean four-wheel stop.

4WD vehicles skid and slide just as easy as 2WD vehicles.

We bought a new Toyota 4x4 back in 1989 and kept it for 13 years. I sure miss it now we have a car but like Brew said, you can't stop any quicker but our little truck would go through 3 feet of snow no problem.
Always watch out for the other guy!

Two hockey pucks or four, they all slide.

Each year, the early snowfalls and ice reacquaint drivers with the scary amazement of what a little ice can do.  As the winter goes on most driving improves.  That first feeling of losing total control is memorable.

I was turning into a parking lot entrance with a little patch of ice there and slid wide, where an exiting car could have been passing the other way.  That woke me up this year.
