December in Florida

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been as active on the boards in the last week or two. Last Wednesday, I flew from Philly to Fort Lauderdale to attend a conference for work. (Awful thing to have to fly to Florida in December, isn't it? hehe) Then on Friday night, I rented a car and drove across the state of Florida to Sarasota where my grandparents live. I'm spending the week here until Friday, and today (the 11th) is actually my birthday so I'm getting to celebrate with my grandparents! My brother was even down here too on vacation over the weekend, so I got to see him as well! Just thought I'd post a few pics of what December is like in Florida! (Don't hate me too much! Although I do feel quite badly for my dad, who is stuck sleeping on the highway in the ice storm in the Endless Mountain Region coming home to Philadelphia from my grandma's in Syracuse...) Me in Fort Lauderdale: View from our lunch restaurant in Fort Lauderdale: Me holding my cousin's daughter, Grace, at dinner last night: Gorgeous sunset I sat and watched today: Me with the sunset behind me on the beach: In honor of Vig, my feet in the soft beautiful white sand: Hugz everyone, Carrie

First off Happy Birthday!!!!! What a wonderful place to be. My husband just came back from 2 weeks down there . Be prepared to be cranky when you get home! He was a mess. I love Sarasota, especially St Armond's circle. Enjoy the rest of your trip! Charlotte

Happy Birthday, Carrie!!! I'm glad that you can celebrate it with your grandparents, that's wonderful. I love these pics, thank you for sharing them. I'm going to watch them all... I've been to Florida back in December 1991 and I miss those sunny beaches; so many memories came back. Hugs & PF days, Sanna

Thanks everyone!!! It is definitely nice to be here on my birthday! I just had some grapefruit for breakfast with a little zucchini bread. I'm going to go for a jog on the beach (which is more of a walk for me, but hey at least I try!) and then relax in the sun. Planning to have tuna salad for lunch since my grandpa makes the best tuna salad! Then more beach time...I think I'll be reading on the beach and perhaps swimming in the gulf, though it's a little cold. And tonight we'll be going out to dinner and my grandma made a double chocolate cake! Yum. Actually a lot of my family sent my birthday cards down here, too, so I've got some to open, which was nice. Anyway - I'll probably post more pics later!! Thanks again for the birthday wishes and responses! Hugz, Carrie P.S. Charlotte I have a funny story about St. Armands that involves me, my high school best friend, and 4 of our high school friends in a van, flying around the circle with a rubber chicken hanging out the window and doing Chinese fire drills! Oh and an illegal fireworks story that goes along with that and how we were almost arrested on the beach! haha... What crazy kids we were!
