Wingate Pharmacy e-patient program

The School of Pharmacy has slightly expanded its enrollment this year and we are up to 70 students. At this moment, I have just enough e-patients to assign one of you to each student. I am still in need of about 10 additional e-patients. These “backup” e-patients would likely be assigned to a student within 2-4 weeks of the course starting (we always have some shuffling to do at the beginning of the semester). If you know of anyone who might be interested, please tell them they are welcome to contact me. cdolder@wingate.edu subject : E-Patient Program You can have some great discussions with people who might not know about the Clusters, and get to meet someone who's stressing through college. I have been in this twice so far, and met two lovely gals who graduated and are working in Pharmacies down south. they know how to behave when someone is in mid-crisis of a doozey... anyway. that's a few more helpful friends spread across America. and they are definitely ready and willing to help battle for better meds and better treatment.

Any parameters for the types of patients they're looking for? Reason I ask, is that I'm episodic, and have taken a very conservative tack with the types of medications that I will consider to treat CH. I suspect that there are others here who have a similar approach, who nevertheless might be interested in participating in the e-patient program. If they are looking for chronics, or people who've been using a variety of medications in an attempt to get their CH under control, I certainly understand--those of us who are very gunshy about the pharmaceuticals used in the treatment of CH might not be as useful to their students. Best wishes, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

This will be my third year as e-patient, and I got the same e-mail from them. I'm happy to continue to do this, and encourage everyone. It's not often you have an opportunity to help young bright kids get real life experience with still rare conditions llike ours..... I'm also episodic, and my meds are O2 and melatonin, have been for a few years now, and they keep asking me back.....

i think they just want a wide variety of people, some pro-medicine, some anti-meds... just to get a feel for the public they may not have contact with, as well as to see how we feel about Doctors and Pharmaists in general.... sorry about the mis-spelling, not had my second cup of coffee yet....wink. Anyhow, they have specific topics to cover, but often are willing to let us rant and rave...if that is what it takes to communicate....winks. It's like a mini- pen-pal thing, in that you can get to know them pretty well, or else just be short and stick to the subject either way, it's one email every week or so, and only for the spring semester of college. these people are really sincere about learning compassionate care, and finding out our take and discover how to be of better help.
