If you have a myspace account, you may be spammed with tons of friend request from scammers.

Usually it is a woman sending to a man. The spammer tells you to put her (?) in your friends...but first either contact her(?) or go to her adult site.

Obviously it is a scam. Mark the message as "spam" You can report it as well.

Here is why you need to do this: if you dont, the scammer will use their friend directory to send out spam to your & your friends and friends in your extended network. Thus, wasting peoples time and mucking up the site.

They are obvious as a fake by the fact that ALWAYS they try to direct you to their site. Generally they are a new account and have few to no friends.

A new scam is to take over a legitimate persons page and send you a request for friend add.  This way, they look legit.

However, they always ask you to email them privately (now they have your email address) or direct to their site.

If you do encounter a friend request from an appearant legit persons page, write the person.

They are not even aware that their profile is being used improperly. If you write them a short explanation describing the use of their profile, it will help to keep scammers off the site (somewhat anyway)

If they are legit. they will write you back to confirm.

This does the legitimate user a favor where as they can reset their password and avoid further violation.

This will avoid others (and you) from wasting their time checking on 20 scammer p.m.'s everytime they log on.

 Cheers, Dave
