Whoever the city editor was on the "Daily Planet". Perry White? Sorry--I read Marvels, not DC. Best, George

Reporter Waldo Pippin also said it to get over his fear of Perry in order to write better stories.

| It started when Perry White went home after working late and ordered Little Caesar's pizza delivered and found this guy ringing his doorbell at midnight.

| Fer crist sakes it's cretin. cretin A word associated to people whose lack of intelligence, manners/etiquette, appreciation, moral fibre and glaring social ineptitude, which in turn allows upstanding, educated, decent, moral, intelligent, socially respectful and hard working people to perceive them as "degenerates" (owing to their inherent and blatantly obvious flaws). A 'cretin' is usually linked, but not limited to the following: * People who hang around on street corners, shops, public access routes or any other place where the intimidation factor to ordinary, decent folk is a bonus. Note: Participants are usually loud, obnoxious, drunk, seeking trouble, showing off or a combination of all 5. Potter

| The etymology of the word "cretin" has been suggested to be mangled French for "Christian", given the innocent inability of cretins to commit sin, but this is by no means universally accepted--and it seems like a real stretcher to me. "Cretin" may also be an ancient slam on Cretans--or denizens of the island of Crete. Great Caesar may have uttered this imprecation himself, bringing us full circle to Perry White, although not to Superman. What this has to do with croutons, I cannot say. Best, George

| I can get you to Superman, George. Almost every Seinfeld episode had a superman logo somewhere in the apartment, usually on the fridge, or the bookshelf. In the episode where Elaine 'dances' at the office party, with the thumbs up, leg kicks, arms akimbo, George looks on, aghast, and says "Great Caesar's Ghost". Later, when Jerry sees the same thing on video in the apartment, he says the same. Superman was in the apartment.
