Ellen's 17 today...

My daughter, Ellen, is 17 today. She's an occasional poster here.
Can't believe how quickly the time has passed--seems as if she's gone from being a shrimplet to knocking at the door of adulthood in no time at all. 
Tonight we're taking her to dinner, and then we'll go see a local little theater production that her friend, Sasha, is in.
Hope you all have as pleasant a day as mine promises to be.

No, unfortunately.
But we had a really nice time. The play was a local production of "The Merry Wives of Windsor". Ellen's friend Sasha played "Robin". Lots of fun, and Sasha played her role with unrestrained gusto.
After the play, Sasha brought a few of the other cast members out to the audience where they sang "Happy Birthday" to Ellen--very loudly. She was quite embarrassed. Ellen isn't a "theater person" , but like Liz and me, she loves them, and loves to be around them.
Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes--El really appreciates your kind words.

I've actually seen that play about 10 years ago and I loved it. I think it was lovely of them to sing for Ellen - but I understand very well her reaction... I'd probably react the same way.
