It could be much worse!

I've had clusters since my early teens when most doctors thought that sinus infection was the cause. I'm now 56 and still have the monsters after me. After reading posts on this site I can say that I feel lucky. A lot of you Clusterheads have it a lot worse than me. My bouts have never lasted over 3 months with usually only 1 attack per day lasting less than 1 hour and an intensity of 7. I usually have 1 session per year and have gone as long as 2 years in remission. I'm just winding down from the latest attacks but have noticed that this time the pattern has changed from before and I have had 3-4 per day on some days. Thanks to this site I have tried coffee so strong that you can almost stand a spoon in it at the first signs. This seems to have shortened the attacks by half and lessened the intensity. Thanks Everyone. Dave.

Welcome Dave, you've only got a couple of years on me so welcome to the "senior" circuit of CH!! Ghost is right, read up on oxygen. I can beat them down in under 10 minutes using 02, that's totally pain free not even shadows. It's been a miracle treatment for me. Also some good prevents out there, lithium, verapamil, topomax, which will lessen the frequency and intensity while you're on cycle. Glad to hear it's winding down for you, welcome to our nut house. It's good to know you Dave but I'm sorry it has to be because of this horror. Stick around. I was never so surprised that there were so many different symptoms, frequencies, and styles of CH. These people are bonkers but they know their stuff. Charlie
