What y'all been listening to lately? Since I have been broadcasting 11 months now, I am now getting flooded with new music from unsigned bands, and feel mightily blessed to have an ocean of tuneage to swim through though a bit overwhelming at times when 57 bands send stuff and ask your opinion that day. Just some of the stuff I am getting into recently: Angelspit - Krankhaus (great metal industrial techno) Rob Zombie - Zombie: Live (just released) Living Dead Girlz - BRAINS Coheed & Cambria - No World For Tomorrow Serj Tankian - Elect The Dead (SOAD's singers solo disc) Radiohead - In Rainbows Iron Maiden - Killers The Cult - Sonic Temple King Diamond - Them The Doors - Morrison Hotel Miles Davis - Doo Bop Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News Tool - 10'000 Days Amy Winehouse - Back to Black Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip - Thou Shalt Always Kill Type O Negative - Dead Again Anthrax - Among The Living Mahavishnu Orhcestra - Birds of Fire Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King Blind Guardian - Myths and Legends and some killer indie stuff from around the world: PiZT! - Favourites Sir Mongor - Collection 9 Days Down - self titled Kevin Reeves - It's About Time (Phenomenal musician with a very gifted ear since being blind from birth. Sounds like a modern ELO) What'choo listening to? Anything good? I'm always on the hunt for good stuph for the radio shows. Peace, Carl

" Kevin Reeves - It's About Time (Phenomenal musician with a very gifted ear since being blind from birth. Sounds like a modern ELO) " oooh, now thats something I will look into Carl. Love Jeff Lynnes music when he lead ELO Jeff Lynne was such a talented writer. Did ALL of ELO's tunes, even did string arrangements some. Know how great he was !?!?!? Before he wrote the tunes for the "Out of the blue" album, he told the band: "We are going to do a double album mates" We need one, all popular bands have a double album. They go: "WTF, you don't have any tunes written for it!!!!" So, he locked himself away in his Swiss chalet...and in 2 weeks, he had all the tunes ready for Out of the blue!!!!! None were garbage or written just to fill space. Most bands do a double near the beginning of their career cause they have a flood of musical ideas....not Jeff. He writes a double album of tunes just cause he wanted one. Now, thats talent !!!! One of my all time favourites !!! Cheers, Dave

C'mon Brew, I'm gonna be disappointed if you don't add something to the thread. How bout Chris Squire's bass playing ! Seen any new bands out there you like? I like AVALANCHE...they are hardly new, but new to me. Dave

Back to more roots-oriented rock, country, R&B stuff since the Suits broke up: - Neil Young
- John Hiatt
- Magic Sam
- The Band
- Jimi Hendrix
- Ray Charles
- Delbert McClinton
- Edgar Winter
- Eric Clapton
That kind of stuff.

| Technically very good, and always the "awe" factor thrown in. But I've never been inspired by it. The music of Yes, while it always made me say "wow," it just never made me want to learn any of it (if that's any kind of measure).

I've been out in the garage listening to the sounds of a new motor in the hot rod. Needs tuning a little. And the CD palyer was on with Elvis, Little Richard, Fats, Chubby, Rick Nelson, Roy Orbeson, Bobby and a bunch more. Just gotta love hot roddin' and old time rock and roll.

The Lemonheads. I listened to them in the early 90's and they came out with a new album last year, it's just as good as the old stuff but it's new and now. A little treat for me.

Carl, can't you just move over the pond, yr show sounds a damn site more interesting than the mediocre pop factory rubbish we have on the radio over here!!! Dunno what it is about thrash metal, it always seeems the perfect music for a CHer, some of the words from Wait and Bleed strike home a bit PFDAN's to ya'll. Paul.

Carl, I got the new Radiohead too the other day. Folks: You download it from a Radiohead site and pay what you want. http://www.inrainbows.com/ I'm not ready to say it is great yet...this kind of music you've got to listen to for a while till it grows on you. I see you like Miles. I recommend just about anything by Miles from the late 50s to early 60s, especially discs where Coltrane is on sax. For world music, Salif Keita is excellent. He's from Mali, He has some women backup singers that look and sound like Saharan dreams. Have you heard the late, great Joe Strummer, post-Clash period? Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros put out about 4 discs. They are all excellent. I was just listening to some on the drive to work. Chrz, Andrew

Boomer - Loving the clip of Ray Lamontagne. I can't get enough of him at the moment. I love this tune. I too (like Sanna) am very girly in my music taste. Can't wait for the new BSB album. I was the biggest fan as a teenager! As for bands, I like the new White Stripes album, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and the Foos. Nothing really unusual. I sound really boring!
