.. that's what it is I'm telling you.

I took a friend shopping this morning (she doesn't drive) and I got viciously attacked by a snooty bitch with enough warpaint on her snout to sink a bloody battleship. If she'd smiled I swear her face would hve cracked.. Anyway the little madam was staning there with her tester bottle of eau de something-ferkin-'orrible and she didn't ask if I'd like to try it, she just grabbed my arm and sprayed it on me.

Not only did it smell like shit, it triggered my head big time and I ended up sat/splayed next to the customer service desk rocking and crying, flailing snot all over the place and no o2 in sight.

Michelle made them get red bull but it was too late although it did seem to help a bit (until the anti gravity effect came into force and I expelled it with great force) It was horrible and embarrassing and downright miserable but that silly cow will never EVER spray anyone again I don't think. She got the biggest strip torn off her and rightly too.  People with serious asthma, other breathing conditions not to mention CH don't need that crap.

I'm still hurting, I'm left with a right "hangover" and I'm really upset. I don't think I'm being silly about it, I think I have a right to be upset but I do feel.. not sure of the right word but "humilated " will do.

Sheesh - what a way to start a week.. NOT!

If you were here, you could have pulled in enough on pain and suffering alone to buy a house.  Undecided

Sorry you had to go through that.  Some of the scents that people wear amaze me.  Then you have the ones who bathe in it.  What? Are they trying to hide the fact that they only bathe once a week or something?  I was playing with my grand daughter the other day and someone pulled in 5 houses down to drop someone off.  She didn't even get out of the car and I could smell her perfume.  I can't can't imagine what it was like to ride in the car with her.

She wasn't a store employee - she was an outside contractor but in fairness they did tear her off a strip.

They were very good to me, apart from trying to talk to me, luckily my friend keeps an OUCH card in her purse for when she's out with me so she was able to explain that although I was in extreme agony I wasn't in any danger as such (She really laid it on THICK too I can tell you!)

They didn't hesitate to run and get ice and red bull for me too and I think they were quite horrified and upset themselves. As long as they stop it happening again that's as good as can be.

Some people will *never* get it...  One of the engineers (software developer) who worked for me had a serious problem with perfume.  She wore so much perfume that every person in the office near her would complain.  It triggered me almost daily, and eventually I had her moved to a remote part of the office.  I swear, even after perfectly clear and frank discussions about the problem, she would be back just a few days later just SOAKED in her perfume.  This was a large Russian woman, and her English was not great.  When confronted about it, she always went for the language barrier fallback position.  She was addicted, I guess, to the idea that the perfume made her smell pretty, when in fact it was just gross.  She never did understand why I was 'so mean' about her perfume.  She even complained to HR about the people that were complaining about *her*.  Wow.  C L U E L E S S.

I'm sorry you had to suffer through this experience.  This is the reason I avoid perfume counters whenever possible.  It's not always easy.

I love perfumes, in fact it is the only thing I ask my husband to give me for my birthday, but I tell him what I want..
some perfumes bring on CH just like Helen ( I remember Rumba by Balenciaga and Euphoria by Clavin Klein are sure triggers) and smoke is another trigger...

I am so sad that you have to go through all that just for someone who did not have the simple courtesy of asking first...BTW when I try a perfume, I ask for one of those scented pieces of paper, never in my skin, just in case..

I had the same thing happen... but before she could spray me..I "politely" told her that if she even attempted to spray that "shyt" on me...her farts would be smelling mighty  purdy for the next month because I was gonna put the bottle so far up her hiney..she would never get it out! Then I smiled & said "your call"..she just walked away..and put the bottle under the counter! Mission Accomplished!
I am so sorry that happened to you though...hopefully she learned a valuable lesson..
Much Love

That's awful Helen! I hate those girls who force themselves on you. A similar experience with a stinking perfume and my severely asthmatic sister (only 12 at the time) left me in a similar situation to your pal.
You were lucky to have a mate there who knew exactly what to do and how to help.

If it makes you feel any better, I too, had a smiliar experience this morning at the train station and have started my week off in a crap fashion.

Just waiting in line to get on the train and BANG - Kip 7 there on the platform. The doors shut on my poor OH just as he was about to get off to help me and he had to stand in the window, heading to work just watching me on the platform, feling helpless as the train drove off.

I managed to get into the toilets (what a delightful place!) and hide there for 40 mins until I was ok to drive. I really shouldn't have driven, but I had to get home. Since that, I've had 6 hits. My day has consisted of o2 and sleep... Also feeling like I have a massive hangover.

I wonder if it could have been a perfume that triggered mine this morn...

Hope you're feeling better soon Helen!

Dear Helen:

I can relate to your experience.  I think it really sux, but you've made it better for the next person who comes along and should feel better about it.

When a CH is coming, and during the CH, my sense of smell is magnified about a thousand fold.  I can be going down the highway (motorway) in a car with maximum air conditioning and windows closed, and smell grass being cut a mile or two away.

Perfumes, particularly sweet and/or flowery ones, are triggers for me.

Wishing you PF days and nights,

Ray

Shite!  Maybe next time she could use the fragrance to gargle with, bottle and all.

When Jimbo is in cycle, I wait until he's gone or I go outside to put my perfume on, plus, we *test* run them to see if they bother him.

When we were in Dallas, I wore perfume every day and I don't think one person complained (and I did ask).  I can't stand *loud* perfumes and that is also one thing that will trigger a migraine for me or make one intensify.

Speaking on that note, have any of you ladies smelled the new perfume by Sarah Jessica Parker, Covet?  It is awesome and just might become my new signature fragrance (I am a one perfume lady).

In my local area where I shop, I know what stores to enter, and which door to enter through  I avoid perfume areas like the plague, as well as any store that sells incense or scented candles.

I was out of town a few months ago and went shopping at a mall, parking outside one of the major anchor stores.  I didn't know where I was going to enter the store and sure enough - the perfume section.

There was a lovely young lady there spritzing everyone who walked by trying to sell whatever it was.  I stopped cold, and she approached me.  I put up my hand and said "stop".  If you spray me with that stuff, three things will happen.  1, I'll be on the floor screaming for 911 and an oxygen tank.  2, this store will be sued and I'll live very comfortably for the rest of my life, and 3, you will be unemployed.  She went absolutely white, so I took pity on her and told her never spray before asking permission.

Skunk oil would actually be much better.  Yes, mace does hurt, but it's damned near impossible to get the smell of skunk oil out of things.
