What a wonderful Day!

Sat. Oct 13 was my 23rd wedding anniversary. My husband took me out for a nice dinner and then we came home and had a relaxing evening. But what made it so special was that at 11pm my son Christopher called from Marine Corps boot camp! His platoon got permission to call home on Wed. night and he explained to his DI that we would be a church wed night and that Sat was our anniversarry and that he wanted permission to call on Sat. instead. He got his wish granted. It was so sweet. He has passed all of his qualifications, riffle and swim and drill and pft etc. He only has 17 days left until he graduates from boot camp. We are going to San Diego on 10/31-11/2 to be there for family day and his graduation. Then we will all fly home together. I can't wait to see him and the Marine/Man that he has become. He will only be home for 10 days but how sweet it will be. Anyway I am rambling... but doing the happy dance.

Happy Anniversary to you two! Glad your son was able to call on the anniversary instead of when you would be in church. He must be doing alright, because that is a MAJOR allowance his drill instructor made for him. The Marines are very big on family, but it is unusual for them to make an exception on phone privileges for those in boot camp. Don't be surprised if you don't recognize him when you are out there for family day. Linda and I didn't pick Rob out of the group during the platoon motivational run, or when they were in formation for the Eagle,Globe, & Anchor ceremony. We kept looking at another young Marine because of the change. You will find it to be a GOOD change! Jerry
