My 18 year old grandson, Shane, is moving to Boston this next coming Thursday......the Lynn (sp) area, wherever that is. He and his buddy Aaron are leaving here after being invited to live with Aarons uncle, and will find jobs and go to school up there. Shane is going to attempt to get into Burkely (sp) after working for a year or so. I am going to miss him terribly. Anyone here from that area? What's the job market like? lyg and g's Donna

Don't know 'nutin bout Baston' , but if you were meaning Berkeley University, that is in the Bay area of California. Nice place to live but VERY expensive.

Lynn is just north of Boston by about 5-8 minutes, a few years back the city petitioned to change its name to Riverside or something like that. Thats because of the decades old phrase "Lynn, lynn the city of sin"....that idea was shot down. If you want illegal aliens Lynn is your city! I have never lived there and I thank God for that! Sorry, but you asked.

Thanks for the information. I really do appreciate your honesty.....that's what I'm looking for. You are doing me a favor by telling it how as it really is. What exactly goes on there? Why is it attractive to illegal aliens? Aarons mom died a year or so ago while living here in Fl. His parents were divorced for some time. Now, this uncle is offering to send Aaron to college in Boston and invited my Shane, Arrons best buddy, to come also. My daughter (Shanes mom) talked to the uncle and he seemed sincere and offered all kinds of "information" and invited her and Shanes dad to come up to visit. The boys flew up there last Friday (uncle paid) and toured the city. Shane said the area is beautiful. They checked out Cheers because of its likeness to the sitcom, ate at "the best chineese restaurant ever", checked out the public transportation and the classifieds. They got back Monday all excited about this beautiful place with hills (FL. doesn't have any), wonderful three story brick houses, etc., etc. Shanes plans are to work and go to a community college for one to two years and go the university to study music. Is he in for a shock? Is he in danger because of his innocence? He's not at all street smart. As far as a resume goes, he just graduated from high school last year. He's worked since he was 14 at places like McDonalds and Long John Silver's.....typical of teenagers, but that's it. I told him to check out the hospitals to try to get a transporter position or something similar...maybe grocery store departments, like produce, etc. I don't know what's up there that he can do without experience.

Thanks Don.....this is very helpful. I'll pass it on to Shane when I see him Wednesday. I gave him one of my OUCH sweatshirts (he's working on a winter wardrobe, LOL).....so if you see a young guy with rather long dark brown hair with this shirt, give him a high five for me.

http://www.ci.lynn.ma.us/Public_Documents/index Lynn is on the North Shore where I work and Beth lives and works. Jonny and Sean live and work the South Shore where I live. Shane will have 4 supportive aunts and uncles or 4 pissed off drill sergeants if he fucks up. His choice. Hi Shane!

Now Donna don't you feel a little bit more secure now? Ree is somewhere in the mix too if needed. Just not sure where. And then there's Bill and Deb...

Hey Donna, I'm coming to this late. Didn't get on-line at all yesterday. Lynn is as good or as bad as you want to find it. No different than any other urban place really. The key will be this uncle. How much do you know about him? Why does he make this most generous offer? If you find yourself comfortable with him then they'll be ok. Getting into a transport job at a major hospital in Boston would be a good way to go. The money is ok and the work is steady. It certainly beats flipping burgers. I'm another 40 minutes north of Lynn up Rt 95. -Dennis-
