It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

The only differance between Sharpton saying it and a republican saying it would be where the blame was placed.
Sharpton would blame white society. Forget all that personal and parental responsibilty bullshit.

Let's see, he was answering a question from an African American, and we all know that whites are the minority in inner city neighborhoods....
Also, his kids probably go to great schools... so do mine. Should we not make an effort to get our kids a better education? Mine go to school in a different city, because the schools in my district might as well be inner city schools. If I can't fix the problem, I'm not gonna sacrifice my kid's opportunities to make a point.

I didnt see him talk about any possible causes, i only saw the vid that jonny posted. All he talked about was incarceration, the vid cut out before he got to his answer.
I think kids should get an education from the school in their district. Kids deserve a good education whether their parents can afford special expenses or not. ( in K-12) Getting a good education should not depend on whether your parents were able to drive you to the next city over.
Course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

He started talking about schools, which are one cause for the problem. Kids who don't get their educational needs met drop out. Drop outs are at risk for violent behavior, etc...
You are right, Brian. Trouble is, it takes more than just a few concerned parents to make changes. It's a huge undertaking that will involve the feds, local governments, communities, school districts, teachers and parents.
My kids are in public charter schools, founded by a dedicated bunch of teachers and administrators. It's worth the transportation costs.

Actually Matt, there is a warehouse and manufacturing facility where politicians are made and distributed worldwide. As soon as we get sick of one, he/she is shipped U.P.S. back to the warehouse for a makeover.
