I just picked up our local paper today and read this. I knew nothing about this until now. I mountain bike 15 minutes from my home and drive along side the airport and knew nothing about this.

Today, 44 Norwegian Veterans will be landing here and then on Tuesday Norway's Prime Minister will be arriving.

I will try to get some pics if they let me. Security might be a little tough but hey, I will be wearing my bike clothes so how much of a threat could I be dressed like that?

I will add the link from the paper so you can read the whole story. I am feeling pretty proud right now.

Svenn and Bente, if you want some pics,if I can get them, let me know and I will e-mail them to you's.

Here is the full story.

I stopped by the Airport which is right next to where I bike. I did not see the 44 Veterans but saw the Memorial building and went through it and saw only one fighter plane. Here are some pics.

I was quite touched when I walked through the Memorial building and looked at the history in front of me. I hope some of you's get a sense of pride from this as I did.

 A proud Barry

Thanks Rosy and Annette. it is raining and t-storming here today. Norway's PM is visiting the Memorial building today, just wish the weather was nicer.

Angie met this gentleman yesterday at work (Zellers) and he was buying some new clothes. She asked where he was from and he said Norway. He was one of the Vets!!!!!!

I do not think I will be able to go to the airport today as I have to work Tongue

I might be able to add a link later on from one of the local papers on the PM's visit.

Nice pics, Barry.

Is it just me, or is it just a little ironic that this beautiful placque is only in English and French (not Norwegian)?

I've yet to see there be so many Norwegians in Canada that they threatened to take over a province and secede from the commonwealth... Maybe if they were able to reach those levels there would be a 3rd language on the sign.
