Went and got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday.   Not nearly as bad as most people tell you.  None of them were impacted, and I was under, so it wasnt bad at all.  I have do have to say that I know it would be worse if they were impacted, but most people who get them pulled need to get a better pain tollerence.  I cant believe I said that in a this forum   laugh

Just curious did you have them pulled because you thought the pain would be less  when you have CH? Alot of people have had their teeth extracted thinking the pain was coming from their teeth...

have a fast recuperation

Glad it went well.

Mine have been gone for 30 some years. Dentist took them out to avoid infection. Took two tries.

Well that was real nice, just thought I would just post the goings on in my life.

And no I didnt get them removed to help with my CH.  They were in bad shape, and needed to be removed before they started to get infected.

I'm glad it went nicely for you.  Smiley

When my dentist took my 3 wisdom teeth out (2 operations), he managed to break one of them in 2 parts, tear a piece from otherwise healthy tooth and I got hit right after the painkillers (nicely 800mgs!) wore out. My mouth hurted for a week after both surgeries...

Funnily, though, I didn't get hit when the painkillers were working. But as soon as they wore off, I got hit along with the other pain.

And, I have made 3 friends go "STOP!" with my wisdom teeth pulling out stories... Grin None of those girls have ever had that much physical pain in their lives so I didn't get to the truly graphic parts yet... Grin

Yes, I have had teeth pulled in hopes that was part of the pain in my head...it seems a natural part of the journey with long time CH'rs.

I tried just about everything to figure out and stop this pain...and thought, "God forbid that this pain in my head is from this tooth pressing on a nerve and if I don't have it out", I elected to have it pulled...ANYTHING to stop this.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled...one at a time...against my dentists' wishes.  He said "You'll never come back after one"...he was wrong.  The horror stories I heard and seen...NO WAY was I going to have all that pain at one time...that was pre CH...ha ha.  Glad things went ok for you with no "dry socket" horror stories.

Oh Sanna...that story made my mouth and head hurt...what a nightmare. Embarassed

Sorry about that, Sherri...
But let's look at it this way: 800mgs to someone who rarely needs regular painkillers is a lot, so I was in this nice "don't really care"- buzz during the operations and the dentist spoke on soft, silent (usually so silently that you cannot hear what he is saying) tone, which was practically narcotic. It much harder once the buzz clears. Grin

But based on that information, I'm guessing that my friends will be adopting kids in future...  Wink

San,

800mg's of what?  Or were you "twilited"...meaning given IV valium instead of being taken completely under.  I LOVE being "twilited"... Im afraid to be knocked out and if it's possible, I wont'...I have been awake through surgeries I was suggested not to be...and couldn't have cared less what the hell they were doing!!  Grin Grin

It does help to have the Dr. speak softly...it's soothing and sedating.   It's ok..San...I just felt badly that you went through that... hug

I had one of our regular painkillers brands, just extra strong version of it. I actually had to buy it from the farmacy myself (and had perscription from the dentist with me) and take one about an hour before the surgery (and one each time the pain return for a week).

When I need painkillers for my regular HAs, I actually use the same brand, just that you can get 400mg or 500mg from the farmacy without a note from your doc. To be able to get 800mg you need a perscription and you have to get in line and the pharmacist will give you the box.

Back in here they regulate the 400mg and 500mg take as well; they cost like 2 euros (next to nothing), but still, you can buy only 2 packs at once. It's understandable, but silly, because there's like 5 pharmacies on the main shopping street, so if one wants to get plenty of them at once, its easy. Just cannot get them from the very same pharmacy at once.

I can't imagine being able to buy pain killers without a prescription...it's such a big deal in the U.S.A...and at convenience stores...(I have heard in places in Europe it's that way).

"Uh, Can I have ten on pump five and a box of vicodin?"...it just is funny.

It was strange to me in Florida, that ALCOHOL was sold at convenience stores and the CVS(I don't know if you have CVS's in Finland, they're a chain of drugstore/retail stores located all over the U.S.A.). I have no idea what "CVS" stands for. Huh

Here in PA we have "State Stores"...that's the only place you can purchase alcohol...besides a bar or beer distributor...and not before or after certain hours.

At any rate, glad that's behind you...and your friends are scared for life now!! Grin

Back in here, it's possible to buy mild ciders and beer from a grocery store, but the rest - including wines - can be bought only in special stores called Alko. One must be 18 to buy alcohol and sales clerks will ask for ID if they have even slighest doubt (personally I think its good, although I'm sure that those who want to get drunk will find their way no matter how young they are).

These days if you go to a supermarket at 8 am and want to buy beer, that is impossible. Sure, you can pick the 6 pack up, but thanks to alcohol regulations, alcohol can be purchased only after 9 am in the morning. I do recall seeing a similar regulation taking place at night: you cannot buy alcohol after 8pm. And all Alkos close at 8pm the latest. After that, it's bars and restaurants which serve.

"Alko"...interesting name for a store to purchase...uh Alko-hol.  Cheesy   Is that a coincidence...or is there really something to it.

Im not positive how the purchase of alcohol works completely...the hours, and on Sunday I know it's different hours in the South.

Im pretty sure, at the convenience stores in Florida, that beer cannot be purchased later than midnite...I was there when this lady flipped the hell out because the clerk would not sell it to her and it was 12:01..phew..what a scene that was....big enough to educate me on the hours!!  Cheesy

And on Sundays...maybe it was after twelve noon...not sure.  Things are very regulated in Pa...the South is much "looser" about everything...including driving.

You don't have to have inspection stickers on the window...which obviously means no inspection or emmissions is needed...that took time to get acclamated to...I felt like I was driving illegally.

I saw cars on the road there, I'd never see here...due to not having to pass inspection.  Vehicles with duct tape holding them together, etc.

Interesting to hear how things work in other places.  Smiley

That doesn't sound weird to me, Sherri. Here in Wisconsin, if you don't pass the emissions test, you don't get a renewal sticker for your license plate.

Sounds pretty regulated there too Bill.  It just shocked me in the south that nearly any vehicle was allowed to be on the road...and I saw some doozies.

I don't know if you've ever seen "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"...one of my favorite movies.  They (Steve Martin and John Candy) were driving a car that was more or less a frame with wheels because it had caught on fire...in the south some of the vehicles on the road were about one step above that.  No kidding.

For a long time, I'd feel anxiety if I passed a police officer due to no inspection sticker on the window.  In PA its so enforced...and just simply unheard of.

It took awhile to adjust.   Smiley

Do they still have State Stores in Pennsylvania for liquor? I live about 23 miles from PA and a lot of people used to come to NY for liquor.

You need displayed stickers in NY to drive. It's been that way for decades.
