A touch of Fall

This past weekend we celebrated the last two birthdays in the month of September.  My 25 y/o Son Roary and my 5 y/o Daughter Emma.  There are four virgo's in my family.  Roary told his Mom he wanted Knobby Apple Cake this year.  So she thought, what a great excuse to get the kids out for some fresh air!  It was a beautiful day, temps in the lower 60’s (F) and mostly sunny.  We found a small local orchard with lots of Macintosh Apples.  It was the first day of apple harvest and couldn’t have been more perfect.  Here are some pics…

Ahem................ the recipe???

Your pics have me all choked up. Suddenly I am a little girl again, climbing trees and picking macs in the orchards back in Mich. Those crisp, clear autumn days smelled like heaven.

Happy birthdays!!

Ah yes, Autumn in the midwest - there's nothing finer!

I canned 27 pints of grape jelly, 17 pints of sweet corn and 7 quarts of pie apples.  I still have half a bushel of apples to can or make into cakes and breads.

wish I could come help you.  I miss the sound of the canner on the stove, the whole house smelling like tomatoes or apples or corn.

My new stove is no good for canning (cooktop).

Fall is the best...my favorite season.  For all of the reasons above and then some.

The temp. is perfect...I love coming home to a house that smells like apple cinamon or something's on the stove...soft blankets, my slippers, cuddling.

How I longed for Fall in Florida!!  My heart actually hurt. Now, Im blessed to get to enjoy my first Fall in six years...I have the house decorated...the apple cinamon tarts...amber lights, lots of candles....aaah. Smiley

The fall in Finland is absolutely amazing. The colors of the leaves... that's the best! Smiley This year I could sense the fall's scent already in the last week of August. My fave fall day is a sunny one, a bit windy, so that you can see the leaves "dance" in the dry streets. Smiley

Gotta like them apples Rosy!

Sweet kids and pictures.

The frost will be on the pumpkin here too and the leaves will turn in a few days. Fall in New York State is beautiful too, Sanna.

I love this weather but hope you all escape what so many of us have experienced this time of year: getting hit  Angry

Thanks for the beautiful pictures.
