Do we keep pets?

My pets are: Timmy, a very ancient Arab x Welsh Cob horse, he is 27 this year and a very beautiful palomino. Still in full work, vet says he is fine, looks fine, I do wonder sometimes though. 2 Welsh Cob yearling geldings, oh so pretty, to make about 15 hands. One of which has been kindly proving his future jumping potential since I bought him at 5 months old by, you've guessed it, jumping out of whatever field I put him in on a regular basis! Hovis, a huge, bonkers, gorgeous Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Henreitta, the ex battery hen who came here just to sit on some eggs but immediately realised she owned the place and has stayed here ever since. Making it very difficult to leave the door open in the summer as she comes stright in and sits on the back of the armchairs and isn't house trained!!! 6 Greyface Dartmoor rare breed sheep, 3 Dexter cattle, about a dozen gold dutch bantams and some Khaki Campbel ducks with an Aylesbury drake called Marvin. Sorry if pets have already been done recently I am a bit of a newby in these parts, I and I like hearing about other peoples pets. Saffy

Abby: 13 y/o Golden Retriever. Wonderful, faithful dog. She's about to take my heart with her to doggie heaven. Baily: 6 y/o calico cat. Guards the upstairs from boyfriends that don't belong on the 2nd floor. Not afraid to use her claws and teeth to chase them out. Trained her myself Mittens: 3 y/o black cat, white paws. Not much personality there. Just likes to eat and sleep. Sophia and Olivia: 2 y/o Boston Terriers from the same litter. Wonderful dogs that love everyone whether they know you or not. They snuggle with anyone who'll sit long enough. -Dennis-

Rudy, a 12 year old Minature Pincher who thinks he's 8 feet tall and bullet proof (he's blind and no one knows it) - he's totally vicious and guards me with his life. Homer, a 70 pound "lap" dog who is afraid of his shadow, but looks "bad". Will love you to death, but is big enough to scare off intruders in a pinch. Little animals scare him to death and pick on him unmercifully. Moe and Joe -- two black cats who are at the farm to "work", but haven't really gotten the hang of the "work" ethic yet. Keep telling them I don't like cats, but they just love all over me like they don't understand me at all. Have to explain it to them every day and they just keep purring and loving on me - think they'd understand, but ...... and they just treat Homer terrible - ride on his back, sleep on top of him - just terrible. You'd think they owned the place or something. The only mouse they've caught so far is my computer mouse and I had to get them a picture of the KIND of mices they're supposed to be chasing. Dumb cats! But none of my animals are spoiled. And this damn cat sitting on my shoulder right now is just getting her morning lecture about what she's supposed to be doing at the farm. Hugs BD

Three cats: 12-year-old Fedora (black), 3-year-old Podkayne (tortoise-shell), and the newbie--Etta(black and white)--who's only about four months old. Two gerbils in Ellen's room--I believe they have names, but I don't remember what they are. A dozen or so tropical finches. Three chickens--a Rhode Island Red, an Aracana (sp.?), and a Barred Plymouth Rock. If Ellen had unrestricted animal-getting powers, there would be many, many more animals here, and they would be large. Best, George

For some reason very attached to me, I saved him from the glue factory because he beats up registered horses. 1 Germanshepard Double D(deadwood) 5 years old he is the one that broke his wood trying to push start the Black lab Onyx aka harda$$ 3 years old she is an escape artist and has an accomplice Topaz 2 year old red healer yellow lab mix. very gentle to a point almost human. Then there is Cheuwy a juan russell terrior (chauaha / jack russel terrior mix) He is topaz's boyfriend. Then the ring master Micro a 15 pound grey tabby that lays on whatever he can and smacks the dogs as they walk past just to remind them who is in charge. Almost forgot the turtle speedy he has escaped 3 times and lost a foot the last time looks like from coyotes but then he came back and tried to reenter his pen. Anyone want a pet FREE! I have dogs. Skipper, a mutt (schnocker) 14 years old and still acts like a puppy. Zorro, a Siberien Husky and Skippers best friend Blackie, another Siberien Husky and Zorro's son Then theres Lily, the neighbors dog, 1/2 Siberien Husky and 1/2 Rottweiler, who had adopted us as her family. RIP Zena the mommy and Red the other son. Husky's aren't for everyone. They are very high maintenance and like to run. They are also working dogs and are not tolerent of small critters. Beth

We have a black labrador puppy called Happy. She is only 16 months old but she is HUGE! I wonder how big she is going to be when she is full size. She is the same length and weight as my 8 years old son, go figure ! Took me 8 long hard years and a fortune to get the kid to that size! If only kids would grow as quickly and as cheaply as puppies We also have 15 gold fish of various sizes. They all have names but I get them all mixed up! Its amazing how the kids can tell them apart! I am planning to get a bird. I used to have a green budgie called .....yes, you guessed it, Budgie ! ( Very creative I know ) but he passed away a couple of years ago. However, I think I need to wait until Happy is a bit older and becoming more docile as labradors are supposed to be ( havent seen any hint of docileness; ? is there such a word?; yet ! ). I dont think hyperactive puppies and birds roaming the house would mix very well. I dont want to have to name the poor bird Lunch! I would love also to have chooks and rabbits but again I think with our Happy they would soon be christened Breakfast, Dinner and Snacks !

Got a Lab/Chow mix. He is my retired guard dog from my other property. He now lives the easy life. Have a cat named Felix. He is the unbeaten neighborhood cat fight champion. Felix is a proficient hunter. He brings me home all kinda wonderful trophies...birds, squirrels, snakes and chipmunks. He's getting rather old, but he's a good cat. Had a rooster I named Mr. Cheepers. Had to give him to a friend who has a farm. He was getting really cocky and whipping up on the cat.

OMG! Lizzie! Bartholomew is the spittin image of my Camry(found under the hood of my daughter's car)! Camry has a "brother", Pepper, a tuxedo cat, and we just adopted my mother's orphaned 4 yr old grey calico, Imp. Last year, we lost 3 of our longtime babies.. Chrissie, my Black Persian Princess, then we lost Phantom, our big, white deaf and stupid Persian who weighed 22# and lived to be 19 yrs old.........then cancer took my sweet Buddy. 5 cats is too many, I agree, but we never pursued one of them, and they picked us......... you ask if we keep pets? Nope, they keep us!!! Cathi(who purrs when happy)
