Baby proofing is unfortunatley not Eric proofing

Well I have to laugh..... Last night I had a feeling that it was going to be rough night. I was shadowing really hard so I decided to get undressed in my living room which is adjacent to my bedroom. This way when I bolt out of bed I do not make too much noise and wake up Joanna. So I am stripping the dark and I lift my leg, trip and go crashing through Hannah's "exersaucer"..... F-en shock type of pain...so damn intense!!! 3 of my toes were completely twisted and immediately started turning colors. I ice them, keep elevated and take a shitload of advil.... This morning I go to my mother's office (she works for a podiatrist) for x-rays..... I broke my f-en "ring" toe, two others are badly sprained as is my foot. UGH!!!! Those damn toys I'm a putz

Oh Eric, I'm so sorry you're hurt. I hope you heal fast. You DO realize that you have just begun a lifetime of stepping on legos (YEOUCH!) and other child-related injuries?? Wait 'til she swings her first baseball bat or tennis racket and connects with daddy's goodies!! Enjoy the ride my friend!

It's only just begun for you Eric. I can't walk through my house without stomping on something. Happens at least twice a week. There's nothing like skating across your kitchen floor riding on a baby blanket You get good a limiting most of the damage after a while. Remember, you can buy another toy. You on the other hand, don't heal as fast as the trip to the store. -Dennis-

Eric: Hurting your feet is one of those indignities that lasts a LONG time. Try to keep it iced and elevated and keep off of it [yeah, like THAT is going to happen]. Good luck with it, Ray

The next installment in Eric's story is to learn about vacuum cleaner food - not real people food dear Hannah or others have dropped by accident . . . . I'm talking about those oh-so-tiny-pieces of toys that can't be seen with the naked eye but feed vacuum cleaners across the world. They are the tiniest, most miniscule things on the planet and when they make contact with the vacuum cleaner your child immediately screams "Daddy - now my XYZ won't work!!!" - and it's true. Get a bagless vac NOW and save yourself the headache of mining the vacuum cleaner bag for that oh-so-important-piece of Hannah's future.

| Linda, that is too funny. Eric, I once hit my arch of my foot on a tricycle whose wheel was held on with a metal twist. (The tricycle was ok.) It is always something, and you will never be able to guess what, ahead of time. Charlotte

I have to agree with nani and ghost about the footwear and children's toys. I've worn something on my feet since my first close encounter with Legos, lo those many years ago. But then, I'm a mosaic artist who works with stained glass so it's quite hazardous to walk around without shoes in our house (even though I only work in the basement that stuff seems to shed off me wherever I go - I have more fun things to do than pick glass out of feet).

I'm sorry about that, Eric... Just wait when Hannah gets older and has posters on her walls... Then make sure that she uses tape to put them up or you'll be walking to those nasty pins... they hurt like hell when you step on one directly! Sanna

Eric, thanks for the laugh and the memories. You might try a "night light". They do help - I still use one. And slippers.....(with steel toes). Hugs BD
