We need a buddy system
« on: Sep 9th, 2007, 4:06pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

We need a way to keep tabs on our ch'ers when they don't show up around here for awhile.

Like Helen said, we worry (when we can't reach out and touch each other) and need to hear from, or about, our family members.

Suggestions?  A committee that goes through the e-mail list?  Just pick a buddy?  How do we know who's covered or not?

I can make a pretty long list right now of people I wonder about, even if they don't usually post regularly....like Annamarie in the Netherlands....and where's Ueli.....Andy Hathaway in Florida...Hub...Paco...Drummer..... Jack (Kack).....lcbob....so many.  Are they here under different names?  I think we'd pick up on their style of writing.....Where's Slammy...Jasmyn.....JudyW.....what's going on with Barb G? These people were all solid family members.  How about Terry Silvernail.....our Lurker Bill.....Margaret.......jeez, the list could go on for a long time.

What to do?

I would consider purpleydog my CH buddy.  She knows my phone numbers and address.  Is the CH buddy thats been to my home most often.  (though not often enough  Smiley )  Alienspacebabe would have to be #2 in line, probably only because she has enough personal stuff going on that I don't want to pester her.

Hey Pegg. I consider you to be my clusterbuddy too. She has my phone numbers, knows my address, and knows how to contact me when it's needed.

I live with a CH'er, who obviously keeps an eye on me (the one that's not red, LOL), and who would contact Pegg, and whoever else needed to be gotten ahold of when/ if needed.

Clusterwife, a clusterbuddy is a CH'er you keep in contact with, and who keeps in contact with you. That way, if you disappear from the board for any extended length of time, your c-buddy will be able to contact you, and make sure your ok, and vice-versa. So we, on the board, don't worry about you, and you can reach out to each other when needed. A support system, if you will.

Thanks Pegg.

If you were to post your ID's, someone would have an easier time of contacting you... or even your watch. Wink

Hmm, I'm not sure there are any people on here who'd ever claim to be my buddy, much else a clusterbud.

Nowadays, I just find it hard to care, but there are still some here I care for, and some who used to be here but retreated to myspace that I stay in touch with.

Peace,
Carl

This idea has been bandied about on more than one occasion. There are a lot of people here who have a buddy... or even a collection of buddies..that said, there are, I'm certain, just as many who haven't bonded with someone.
When someone I know is missing in action, I try to make a call, but I don't know how to reach everyone, just, perhaps, 25 or 30. I am certain there are at least that many, prolly a bunch more, who would slip thru the cracks, and THAT'S  wrong.
Who do you know? Who have you connected with? Whose contact numbers do you have-and who has yours? From state to state, even, is there someone fairly nearby who can go see you? Help you out in a bind, and being on the receiving end if the shoe is on the other foot?
It can be as organized, or as loose as you wish, you can have one buddy, or, as some of our standouts, you can be in tough with hundreds of CH'ers....... the point is........ someone should be able to FIND you, when the chips are down.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
Until there's no need, coz, CH is history, and even past that, coz there's a bond......who is gonna be YOUR buddy?

I'll volunteer for anyone who needs a buddy- pm me your contacts........LOL...I'm even told I give good phone!  Grin

PF everyday,
Cathi

Donna,

You're right -- some of the "older" ones have been absent for a while and I do worry about them. Have been pming them and when I get an answer and know they're ok I quit worrying so much. Had one check in yesterday -- (with a good excuse I might add). But some of us do worry.

Have you heard from Andy? And Bill L (he has NOT checked in).

Some of the others have just been away from computer access for a while and will check in when they can.

I'm the world's worst about calling people (good intentions, but.....). But we do need to keep up with our "children".

I stand, er sit, corrected. I know if there is anyone here who always keeps me in their thoughts, its you. And also, you are the only one who sends me cards, tea and "get out of hell free" passes.

I know you're my CH bud for always. I was just in a pissy mood when I wrote that so please disregard.   Tongue

I thought, or hoped I was going out of cycle. The last two days have reminded me that it was just 'wishful thinking'.  Undecided
