Blue Boy FOUND....

I think I told you guys that my son's dog, Bosley, (my firstborn granddog) age 11 died about a month ago. Of course the kids were totally upset. One of my neighbors heard about this and had a chiquaqua breeder friend. She obtained a BLUE chiquaqua for them wo weeks ago- 2 months old and a darling.
Well the kids were in love immediatly. But as luck would have it, Buddy took the little thing outside to do his business and zap, Blue was gone - Speedy Gonzalas at his best - that dog could do 90 miles an hour without breathing hard. Buddy searched the woods, highway till after dark (with a spotlight after dark). The pup was just gone. The kids were totally upset. I spent the next few days going to neighbors on the back road (about 1/2 mile from the house) and knocking on doors - no sign of the dog. We finally assumed the coyotes got him and went on with our lives - a little bit sadder.
WEllllll, yesterday I was at my little old ladies card meeting (Game Busters - we're famous you know -been on the front page of the paper and all that, but that's a whole nuter story) and we were talking and one little lady said that this little doggie had wandered up to her house (she lives about 4 miles from me) and he was the cutest thing and went on to describe him -- IT WAS BLUE BOY!
Now you tell me the chances of that one. I spent some time trying to coax him out from under the house of these three sisters (in their 70-80s), but he's really skittish and only comes out to eat (they've been taking really good care of that one), then hits the opening and goes back under the house. They're trying to get him in the house now so they can catch him for me.
Now, I still haven't figured out how that little thing got that far and found their house, but am glad he did. these sisters are some of the sweetest ladies out here and love dogs, so he couldn't have picked a better place to go, but 4 miles? And it was just a fluke that we found him.
So good things do happen. Now we just gotta catch him.

Sounds like Mr. Blue needs a leash to keep him from playing explorer for a while.
Hope you catch him and the sooner the better. Little guy is no match for coyotes.

You never know.
A couple of years ago, a couple in north Idaho had a chihuahua that wandered away like that. He was occasionally spotted for months, living rough in the wilderness before he was finally retrieved. Little guy became a legend. I don't know how he got by.
Call of the Wild, I guess.

You got pull to get me in? I can play some dumbfounding, eye-rolling rummy with anyone 80 and older.
My grandmother had a gathering for cards too at her condominium with ladies in various phases and afflictions of aging, adjusting through several groups of ladies. Being a good adjuster to situations, she lived to be 95. Said with the ladies, sometimes anything goes. "Yeah, an eight beats a jack", "yep, that's trump now, "sure, it was your turn," "ok, you won again."  Arguments at that age aren't important, don't really matter.
Nice story Barb. Networking had a great ending!

Kevin - you are indeed insightful.
My Aunt Shirley (my surrogate mother since I lost my mom at the age of 24) acts the same thing your granny does. She finally gave up playing with her group complaining "I'm the only one that still has my mind!!" She just didn't enjoy it anymore.
