Decoder Rings at the ready.

Literary interpretation has always been a strong suit of mine, but this OPEN LETTER that was published in today's paper has thrown me for a loop. Now maybe it's the long term effects of Dopymax, or maybe I'm I'm suffering from "part-timers" disease...I don't know but this one has me baffled. Anyone else got a clue? Please give your interpretations, and if my mind is truely beggening to fail me I think I'm still strong enough to hear the truth. (BTW, the nintendo DS says my brain age is 74 ...hmmm go figure) http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070906/S PJ06/709060391 LETTER: Refreshing breeze offers hope Summer breezes here present a sense of life real, mingling as they do with thrusts of torrid heat, brutality of bitter cold, even war-like storms. So present here too is media borne mediocrity where that more elementary than water lies despoiled, wrenched from creation, worthless in the spring of life serving all. Yet the refreshing breeze standing mildly tells of the artful courage bearing not a hint of hatred such as stirs to war. Its presence offers relief from air crafted in devotion to consuming power that becomes a complex network of wealth violently closing in with fear in its hopeless desire to grasp the poor. Still, simplicity as in a summer breeze or breath of life appears as peace bearing a treasure of wisdom, even where loads of intelligence and information committed to fiery idols are formed secretly in clouds of aggression. Presenting security unreal in icons of war, the fire of fear taking life freezes in with violent destruction. Still appearing is the wealth of mercy warmly imparted in a labor of Love, word truly telling of Creator given to no corrupt or violent nature, knowing life present as the human spirit flowing in a real sense as free as the breeze of joy bound for creation. Pegg, I am actually going to be completely serious for once, which I know can sometimes be an invitation to verbal sadism on this forum. I honestly hope that this "open" letter gets read and analyzed by your local law enforcement as well as other jurisdictions! Call me paranoid, but this rambling crap has all the earmarks of a sick and possibly dangerous mind. George Jimi, and Joe.....what say you........Tim

I had a gut reaction to it as well, but there is nothing said in there that can be "conclusive". It appears to be poetic Allegory. But at least in that one can grasp a glimmer ofthe intended hidden message. This is so obscure that it defies any rational explaination.

This is some kind of prose poem, and after reading it several times I think I'm starting to get it. Tanner, I think Mr. Soik is no threat to anything or anyone, as far as I can tell from this. In fact, I doubt he would hurt a fly. Ever. And yes Redd it 's metaphor or allegory or something. What I pick up is this: Just as a refreshing breeze contrasts with more violent weather, the quiet, beauty and peace of the natural world is the counter balance to the clamor and anger of human affairs, violence and war. At least that the kind of bullshit I would spout if this were lit class, which I aced. Actually I kind of like this: Quote:Still appearing is the wealth of mercy warmly imparted in a labor of Love, word truly telling of Creator given to no corrupt or violent nature, knowing life present as the human spirit flowing in a real sense as free as the breeze of joy bound for creation. |

| This fellow writes at least 3 letters a week, if we publish on a month thats as uch exposure as he gets. I think that the ones we DO publish are the ones that our him as the lunatic he is. Nothing he's ever written has made any logical sence. Better the public is aware of his ramblings than to ever take any of his letters seriosley. (mis-spelled for the dramatic affect) to add: Don't ever ask me to be a reporter my typing sucks.

| I truly don't know, Tim. As Mark Twain said of a particular religious text, it's chloroform in print--but other than that, I don't see anything dangerous about it. That's just me. He may be sending secret coded messages to the Venusians, for all I know. Reads a little like Khalil Gibran. If that's not a crime, it ought to be. Best, George

Well I guess I'm crazy too, but the more I read this, the more I understand it. It isn't great poetry...it's overblown and convoluted but it really isn't that obscure, as far as poetry goes. I'm not much of a poetry guy, and what I do like tends more toward haiku and Li Po, but this guy's got some strong imagery going. And hey Helen....I'm surprised at your comment...euthanized? I always thot the Brits were more tolerant of eccentrics. I suppose I've always had a soft spot for crazy old coots, maybe because I want to be one when I grow up. -tommyD

Redd, I will save this and if I happen to drink some I will try to understand it.I think with several drinks I can decode it.Unfortunately or fortunately I'm not a drinker. The one or two wine coolers or strawberry daquaris I drink every couple of months aren't strong enough the this decoding. minnie who lost her decoder ring p.s. can anyone decode this.............
