I'm hit !!
So, I guess the Histamine aint doin' jack$hit ! The Decadron and DHE has worn off.
If anyone here at this hospital calls that a 'headache', so help me I'll make em' swallow their teeth !!
Mistake = laid down and fell asleep. Woke up with a pizzed off BEAST !! I freaked, rolling around on the bathroom floor in the dark, pressing as hard as I could on my eye socket, screaming and hyperventalating !! ( I still can't believe that my eye is in one piece ). The nurse did come in quickly and gave me a subQ injection ..... BUT IT WASN'T IMITREX, and I didn't know it. The INSANE PAIN lasted for over an hour. I can't believe they made me go through that. I'm madder than hell !! Was it a mistake or did they give me that other mystery medicine on purpose ? I will find out !! Some heads are gonna roll for this one !!
It's over now ... but it was definately a BIG 10 !!
Glad to be in one piece ... survived yet another full blown loooong attack !!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

The weekend neuro ordered up DHE and stopped the Imitrex. I finished the DHE yesterday but the Imitrex was never re-ordered for me to have. The neuro I saw this week never even knew the Imitrex was stopped. He was called and it is re-ordered now ( A little bit late!). I'm still going over him to my main neuro and make sure that NEVER happens again. I don't give a crap if I'm doing DHE or not, if I need Imitrex - I NEED IT !! The consequences of NOT getting it are greater than taking it !!

BTW, 125mg of Demerol IV didn't touch the pain !!

They did tell me what it was and it's not something I'm familiar with. She said it was an antimedic for nasuea

The very first time Lisa went to the ER for head pain that we didn't know was CH, (thought it was migraines) they gave her iv reglan. This is an anti nausea med and only works with iv for head pain. She actually returned to the ER at 6am the next day morning and 6pm that night and 6 am the following morning, ect Each time they gave her reglan and within 10 min. pain was gone and she was ready to leave PF. We had no clue this was CH but in hind sight it's pretty clear now, very clockwork, short unbearable, different than any migraines either of us have had. We must have checked in and out of the ER 6 times before they kept her and put her on depekote IV for 24 hrs.
I'm not sure if you got reglan but if you did, it's not as off bases as it may appear, at least it wasn't for Lisa. I hope you start feeling better soon and get out of that hospital!!!

WRONG !!!!!
NEVER take Imitrex when on DHE! DHE is a major vaso (sp?) constrictor. It constricts, something like 40%. Imitrex is not as big a constrictor, more like in the 20% range. If you take the Imitrex on top of the DHE, you are talking in the range of 60% constriction, which equals MAJOR chance of a heart attack!
I know we all think of death as a relief from the pain, but we all know that is NOT the way to go. So, unfortunately, deal with the pain, and avoid the heart attack.
Why am I so familiar with this? Because I took Imitrex while on the DHE, and guess what? HEART ATTACK number two! It was when I went to Norway, to the headache symposium, that the doctor explained why I had the heart attack.
Now, what about O2? If it has not worked for you in the past, try it again, but with the following change: Try it at 25 LPM. Many of us have discovered that the higher flow rate makes a world of difference.
Try it, you might LIKE it!!

Chuck, I appreciate your concern for me, but I've done as much DHE (and Imitrex) as anyone has. I've done them within 3 - 4 hours of each other many times without any problems (Except for a slightly elevated BP)
The consequences of NOT getting the 'insane pain' to stop in a timely manner, could mean death also (suicide). Hey, they don't call them 'suicide headaches' for nothing !! I sure wouldn't want to live with all that pain day in and day out because of what might kill me!
Sorry you had suffered from heart attacks in the past though bro. That really sucks.
The O2, I'm sick of trying. I've tried it and tried it and tried it, and it just won't stop an attack for me. Imitrex is my only real help.

I’m wishing you have an uneventful surgery today!
I don’t use the trex any more (rebounds) and have 1 box left. If you want it let me know and I will add it to your stockpile.
The lithium seems to be working. I don’t know why I didn’t try it before; I just didn’t think any thing would work because nothing so far has. I’ll have to wait and see. This is the first prevent that has made me pain free and hopefully it will continue to work. I feel like I’m getting good sleep the past few days and I actually dreamed last night. Amazing!
Sorry to hear you got hit so badly in the hospital. I hope for your sake they can manage to get there shit straight! I thought you couldn’t do trex and DHE at the same time? You don’t want the third member to fall off; you need something to fight the nurses with.
I do understand why they call these things suicide eye ball attacks, and all you can do is try to keep the will to carry on. It’s a novel idea that’s easy to say and hard to practice in extreme pain. Hang in there bro! You win the war but the F’r keeps crawling off the battle field to fight again and again. What a catch 22 war we are in with the beast.
