Where the hell is the summer going?

In May, I thought it was going to be a relaxing summer. No weddings, parties etc. Now I'm booked through mid September and have been doing something every weekend since June! WTH?

Is it just me, or does that always seem to happen?

Something I've come to dislike are people who insist on having a birthday party for their kids EVERY year! And they have more than one kid! Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm getting selfish in my old age but sometimes I want would just like some time to myself.

What says you?

Want time to yourself then you just have to take it without excuse.

"I'm sorry - we have other plans."

Works for 95% of the circumstances (the other 5% is nosy mother-in-law who asks what the plans are and I just repeat step one . . . .)

Chewy is right.  It's difficult sometimes...feeling obligated, etc...but unless you "make" the time for yourself, it seems someone else makes it for you. Wink

My family and friends know not to make plans for us. They are starting to understand this so now they "ask us instead of telling us" what to do.

Angie and I love our 18 nieces and nephews but if we went to each of their B-day parties we would not have much time for ourselves. Are we being selfish about this?

We mountain bike a lot but we do not push any of them into riding unless they want to.

We do not have kids so we like to do big people stuff. Grin
