Race across the USA !

You guys remember my grandson JD. School starts tomorrow.
We are doing Race across the USA. I am needing people from different states to send him a post card of their state.
When he gets a post card he has to write a letter to who ever wrote him and mail it back. He loves mail, this will be great writing lessons. Plus every time he gets a card, he has to look up the state on our map, and find the capital. Then he has to learn to spell the state and the capital. If he gets more than one from the same state he gets to skip the spelling part if he spells it right. If he knows the capital. He always has to write a letter back.
We are Nascar Race fans so I thought this would be fun for him. Plus most of you were here when he was born and all your post and even a chat log from that night is in his baby box. I thought this would be fun to show him where all his Aunts and Uncles live on ch.com !
I have his class room all fixed up, Race cars on the wall with his map. He is my pit crew, his desk is the Pit, and the
kitchen is The Fill R Up station! My desk is the Race Car. Yes he gets to drive for one hour a week, and I work in the pits.
Its going to be a fun year.

I just explained all this to JD. I read him this thread, he is excited. He thinks this is great. If you live outside the USA thats good also. We made a place on one wall, to hang the post cards. We will be talking about the world as a whole, in months to come.

I was about to send you a IM and ask about it.
I'm going to hit (no pun intended) the card desks tomorrow, so I'm going to see if they have nice cards from Jyväskylä. Then JD will get a card from Finland's rally capital (real capital is Helsinki).

Jerry that would be ok also. The main thing is for him to lean the states, and capitals. I will explain to him that one person sent them. Having post cards from all these places, I am hoping will help him learn them better. He is already asking when is the mail man coming. LOL

For people who don't know. When JD was born, my daughter was having trouble picking a name. Well my first name is Johnnie, so my daughter, did a good thing, she named him after me, but spells it like our king "Jonny " "Dalton" is his middle name, named after a character in a Patrick Swayze movie. My daughter wanted him to have three tuff guys names, Plus she wanted him to have a name from ch.com. We nick named him JD, JD backwards stands for DJ.
She did all this with two names Jonny Dalton now how cool is that? Named him in away, after two guys here and me and a tuff guy on TV ! All of this is in his baby box, for him to read when I am long gone.
Jonny I am sure what ever it is will be cool. You know that ball you sent me? I keep it n my desk, and he loves it. He has the biggest time shining it and looking at how he looks in it ! LOL
