We're dealing with Killer Bees down here. They get under the wood, like your clapboard, and just keep expanding. Had to get a professional out, and once he opened the siding up, it was an unbelieveably big hive.
If that's what you're dealing with, better get a beekeepers outfit, hood included, because these things are very aggressive.

Get some Malithion and make a mix of 50% with it (dillute the concentrated poison with water 1:1) and put it in a spray bottle (one that you can get a stream from) and go out at night and soak the entrance to the nest. In 2 days they will be gone. They traips through the stuff and contaminate the hive with the stuff. Just be sure kids and pets stay away from the treated areas for a few weeks.
My bathroom was filled with yellow jackets a couple of years ago and it was the only way I could get rid of the damn things. Made taking a shower a life or death project. LOL

Jonny that hornet story sounds awful - Do you have a heightened reaction to stings now? Just asking as I seem to react worse to bites every time I get bitten by something (maybe its just old age eh?!)

Odd subject...I'm allergic/highly reactive to any and all insect bites. Bee or wasp stings are not deadly, but I'm bed ridden for at least a day or two after a sting with sweats and muscle convulsions, and spider bites will end up huge ulcers. Mosquitto bites used to become ulcers as well, but the reaction to those is getting less and less as I get older, but I still react worse than most people.
