Coming Home Richcon 2007

Have you ever seen a toddler separated from his mother? The child stands looking about with an expression of confusion, panic and terror on his face, It is unmistakable. Suddenly the mother will appear and pick-up the child and coddle, hug and wipe away the tears, replacing the expression with joy. For the child, the innate sense of dread and helplessness is banished away by the loving arms and presence of his mother. The boogieman is no longer a threat. On the day after the convention Bill Mingus and I were talking with the hotel manager, answering some questions about Cluster Headaches and the O.U.C.H. convention. After a long series of excellent questions she finally asked one question that hit home with me... "Why do you all gather and what is it like for you?" I could only think of one response.... "It is like finding your long lost mother." All of you in attendance have managed to change my life in one way or another for the better. It was a privilege and honor to meet you. Thank you for being there and thank you for being who you are. It was like finding my long lost mother. with warm regards, Tony

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, not any before nor after, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. Man has one virginity to lose in fighters, and if it is a lovely airplane he loses it to, there is where his heart will forever be.

Been gone from this monitor too long . . . it seems to have gotten blurry. We had much the same conversation on the long drive home. I don't have much blood family but I sure have a lot of cluster-family. It's good to feel a part of a group like this - that sense of belonging somewhere is priceless. Glad you got home safe Tony - it was wonderful to meet you and I'm so proud of you overcoming your demons to be with us.

No doubt, convention is a natural high. It brings you so much closer to each other. It's a comforting...and peaceful kind of closeness. These friendships will last a lifetime Much love to you Tony, Jean

Tony, You're absolutely right about the "finding your long lost mother..." thing. The conventions are one of my favorite times...and finally meeting you and everybody else is great. I'm glad you were able to come. Peace, Roy
