Coming up for air!

Howdy all. Sorry I've been a no show for a while. I've been busier than a one arm paper hanger and it's not going to get any better for a while. After six glorious years out in the peace and serenity of the country, we are getting ready to move back into town. Can you say sucks? I thought you could. LOL With all the kids gone (Zack goes off to college in August) we have little need for such a big house. Besides that, with the cost of putting Zack through college, we really need to cut down our expenses for about four years. We’re moving into a small, all expenses paid place. I hate living so close to other people, but on the plus side, I will finally be able to ditch the dialup (which has been the ONLY drawback to living so far from town) and have a REAL internet connection. One note for those of you using and giving out the location of the paper by Dr. Todd Rozen, "Update on therapies for cluster headache" at: http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf The address for that document has changed to: http://www.plainboard.com/ch/chtherapy.pdf Looks and sounds like I missed a great convention this year. I really wanted to attend, but shit happens and you do what you have to to survive it. I hope to be able to attend next year, wherever it may be held. I know I have missed a lot of triumphs and tragedies over the past couple weeks. Please know you are all in my thoughts and have my best wishes for you and your families at all times. In that same vein, I would like to ask for a few prayers and positive thoughts for Jane's mother, Velma. We just found out a couple days ago she has breast cancer. Luckily, the docs caught it early and are wasting no time getting her the treatment she needs. She's no stereotypical mother-in-law to me. She's my mom, plain and simple. I know your prayers, vibes and positive thoughts will raise her up and get her through this. I've seen it happen time and time again. This place has that kind of magic. Well, I gotta try to get a few hours of shuteye. (yeah, right) Another busy day tomorrow. Wishing you all pain free days and nights as well as good health and happiness. Love to all, Mike

Hi Mike. You are so right, the amazing prayers and vibes from the people here helped my mum recover from a mini stroke last week. All the vibes I have are on their way from England. Hope Velma makes a speedy and full recovery. Mike

Hi Mike. Sorry you have to leave the country life to go live in town with neighbors and all. The internet connect will be a big plus though but still doesn.t make up for waking up and going outside with a cup of joe and listening to the birds and such. Hey, some cars and trucks sound pretty cool in the morning and think of how nice that diesel smoke will be. Just trying to put a smile on your face. Healing vibes coming for Velma, hope she beats this. Take care, Barry

Hi Mike. Down-sizing and moving is a lot of work. The whole process really makes you put your priorities in order. Best of luck with all of it, and Velma is in my thoughts for a full recovery. Pat

Hey Mike! moving to the city has many advantages....you don't have to grocery shop for a month at a time, you can let your gas tank get on empty and run down and put $5 in and still get home, there's a 7-11 on every corner so when you have that "hankerin for ice cream or a candy bar" its 2 seconds away, AND it only takes an hour to mow your lawn instead of all day! on a more serious note....you have my prayers and thoughts for your mom (My mother in law is the same to me...she's my MOM)....so I pray for your family to have strength...and hope all turns out well..... much love April

I'm sending prayers for Velma, Mike. You know, I do love living in the country...but there are times I think moving back to the city would be great. Being urban empty nesters might be fun... lots of love to you and Jane, nani

Thank you all for the well wishes for Mom. They do work wonders. After a mammogram, a follow up mammogram to verify the results of the first mammogram, an MRI w/contrast, a CT Scan, an Ultrasound and tons of blood work, the docs are pretty sure the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes and should be able to remove the cancer with little problem. They see no need to do a radical mastectomy. Hell, the procedure is an outpatient procedure. Things have changed so much over the last 10 years or so. They will follow up the surgery with a couple weeks of radiation therapy and they think that should do it. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday (7-23) at 11:30. Your continued positive thoughts for her are appreciated. Love to you all, Mike & Jane

Hoping "mom" stays out of the woods permanently with her upcoming procedures and treatment. Best of wishes for her. Six years of country livin' is a great time but I know you've been stationed many places and adapted always. And after taking on New York, this will be small potatoes in the stew. Pulling in the stakes on the property line to eight steps from the front door in the city is a smack in the face but you'll like some close conveniences, I can hear the girl's voice on the Wendy's drive-thru intercom from my porch on a cold, quiet night. All sorts of charm in the city.
