I need advice

Ok, I've had it with this summer cold. I got rid of the fever and cough and sore throat, but I kind of would like to actually hear what happends and stop sneezing! Grin

So, if you have some useful advice what I can do to help myself get better quickly (I'm an aries, I always get back to normal chores too soon, I'm very much aware of that), I'd love to get them. Smiley

Resting and sleeping are not part of my fave things and I'm first to admit that I never do either enough when I'm sick. I'm "too busy" to do that... Roll Eyes This time around it has not exactly helped that I've had to travel a lot and I've got complitely wet (yep, thanks, rain) about 4 times since I first got sick.

But I tell you: this is absolutely the LAST time I'm doing academic work while I'm not 100 per cent well. I've been through some of my notes from yesterday and this morning and I've never seen as many typos in my life! Nor felt as much of an idiot since I was on dopeymax... Grin

Here's to PF times & getting better,
Sanna Smiley

Sandy,

Summer colds are the worst!  Perhaps all you need is an allergy tablet to dry up whats left making you sneeze and you will be back to 100%.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Sanna. Hope you get feeling better soon. I have not had a cold for about 4 years so I am not going to be much help on the advise department.

Maybe because I bike and sweat alot is why a virus does not stay in my system very long, I just do not know.

Hope it leaves you soon.

Bless your heart! I hate summer colds. They seem to last the longest.
I bought a air purifier and I love it. I got two. It sure has helped with colds and its helped with all our allergy problems.

I think they have helped with my headaches also.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Sanna,

Stop using antibacterial wipes and/or hand sanitizer, and don't wash your hands as often. Let your immune system do what it's designed to do.

Sounds crazy, but I think society has gone over the edge in trying to protect itself from every single germ we encounter. When we do that, we deprive our immune systems from developing antibodies, our natural protection against the creepy crawlies.

None of this will cure your current illness. Your body has just engaged in a war with a new enemy. Your body has won, but the battlefield is littered with dead corpses. It takes awhile to clean them up.

Next time you feel like you might be getting sick, take one of the natural herbal supplements that boosts your immune system. Here we have something called Airborne Formula. It's a fizzy tablet you drop in water. I swear by the stuff, but you have to start taking it at the first signs of a cold. For me it has drastically reduced the length of time I'm sick, and also the intensity of the symptoms.

I must stock up tomorrow; we don't have limes at home. But lots of teas and some honey. And I have the perfect excuse to use my brand new tea mug! Brilliant! Grin

You gave me lot to think about... Thank you. Smiley I actually worry that I have this so bad because I brought dairy back to my diet a while ago; I've heard that cold can be harder after that... Anyways, I have a remedy called Findrex, which I use at the first sign of cold - usually. It comes in sachets and its meant to be taken with warm water. Naturally I didn't have any sachets with me in UK... If I had, I would have taken one on the first day; that has stopped colds getting to me many times. Smiley

Elaine, I agree: summer colds seem to last longer. I just that hope that I'll get rid of this thing shortly; I'm not fold of having one for 3 weeks or more.

Hugs & thank you all for tips,
Sanna

I agree with Brew.  We as a generation have become so "germ" -aphobic, we are depriving our bodies the ability to fight off illnesses on it's own.  In addition to this, we have created many resistant straines of viruses and bacterias because we refuse to take the full amounts of medications prescribed for any number of infections, thus only weakening them and they then mutate into something even more difficult to fight.

Our bodies NEED to catch colds, and get infections from time to time to build the natural defences against them.

Back on topic...

Sanna, take a long hot bath.  Add a palmfull of rosemary leaves (from the spice cupboard)  and dried mint if you have them.  Crush them up good between your hands to release the oils before putting in the water.

Drink a cup of camomile tea with more mint while soaking, and stay in the water until it begins to get cool....Then shower off with luke warm water and just a cloth to remove the bits, but leave the oils on your skin.  Not only will you feel refreshed but you'll smell yummy to Timo and bad to the summer insects.

Think about it...human beings are the only animal that continues to drink milk after they're weaned from their mother. And it's not even human milk - it's from a cow or a goat.

That's exactly I got rid of the dairy in my diet in the first place! I trusted my gut with that one and when I begun to crave natural yugurt, I brought that back. But you can be sure that I'll be getting my calcium from soya and tablets from now on!

Thanks, Pegg! I'm going to check if we have rosemary currently. But I've been wanting to take a long, relaxing bath for a while, so perfect timing for that! Smiley

Bill...

Humans are also the only animal that cooks it's meat and veggies, and eats bread...

We can all go with a 100% raw diet.  Or we could stop eating any baked bread products no matter how whole the grain.

Humans eat what they do because we have an evolved brain to have developed means of preserving our foods over how many hundreds of thousands of years?

Our guts have evolved to the point where we no longer need certain organs to live, or properly digest foods.  Gall Bladder and Apendix are examples.

We sometimes question certain aspects of human existance in comparison to our other animal friends.  But as a species we ARE unique in many ways from any other animal even the Primates.

Did you know that the human female is the only primate to have pernanently swollen breasts even when not lactating?

Well, in some cases I would beg to differ.

But then again, others more than make up for it, so on the average, on the whole, for the most part, you're absolutely right.

Buncha goofballs....  Cheesy

I had what I thought was a summer cold coming on so I got out and did all my ebay mailing and other hopping so I wouldn't be in any more trouble. The thing is that doing so killed whatever this virus was. Exercise seemed to work this time.

Hope you're getting a break by now.
