Bush said after an appearance "The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws.  "Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people, and Congress' failure to act on it is a disappointment."

G.W. never stops attempting to sell this horse manure as legislative diamonds.

Comments from many Senate Democrats and Republicans indicates these jokers believe they are either untouchable in their ivory towers or really have crafted nice little dream worlds to live in.

You think by now they’d start crafting meaningful border/port protection legislation and put teeth back into immigration laws instead cleverly attempting to slip back-door amnesty to illegal aliens.

I used to be a political junkie and I have reached saturation.  I'm done trying to believe that these people have MY best interests in mind.

I can't believe the amount of sheer crap that passes for "legislation" and the people who propose it.  Makes me want to crawl into a cave and hide for the next 50 years.

And don't forget to say "thank you" to the nice Congress for NOT passing this ignorant bill. They need a pat on the head when the actually DO something worth while.

The former Soviet Union was a republic as well, but the US is a DEMOCRATIC Republic, a democracy, so my question stands.  Can you name another democracy, republic or not, that shoots people attempting to enter?  Or perhaps, from the tone of your answer, you would rather that the US not be democratic?

Isn't Mexico a democracy of sorts? Immigrants there have no rights. They can be detained and even exicuted if they deem it so. limited extradition agreements. they do however allow those traveling through to the us a free pass as long as they leave there. Those wanting to stay are treated as felons. so the answer is YES!
