Ugggg what a day...
« on: Jun 22nd, 2007, 8:43pm »

Ok, so this is a vent.  It wasn't the best day ever, but 4PM started the afternoon from hell.

First things first, I finally get 5 minutes to talk to my new boss about the 2K discrepancy in revenue reports.  The goal based revenue report shows my territory brought in 18K of revenue last year.  My daily EDMS (don't ask I don't know either) shows that my territory only brought in 16K last year.  Goal setting is (at least in part) based on a percentage of revenue growth over last year.  So according to the goal report I'm to bring 22K, about 4K over last year. (Which in itself is higher than any goal set by the previous boss.)

However, the EDMS report shows the territory only brought in 16K.  That would equal a goal of 6K over last year.

So I'm not asking him to justify increasing goals the way he does, I simply asked him to explain how 2 different reports can show 2 different amounts of revenue.  I was shot down, and he attempted to talk circles around me and at each perry, I trusted back with what I wanted to know.  What happened to the "missing" 2K in revenue, and that I don't argue having my goal set according to that 18K if he can show me where it came from.  He flat out said it was a waste of his time and wouldn't do it.

Second decent into hell, was when I learned that the promised center spread for the progress would not be a full bleed double truck spread.  One of my clients bought that spread, spent two weeks and missed out on the early bird discounts to literaly lay out that  spread herself, cutting out photos and writing the copy and glueing it together to show the graphic artists how she wants this $1355 add to look.  I tried to explain it to her this morning that there would end up being a staple right in the center of one of her photos, and we would probably need to lay it ot slightly different, and she said with what she is paying it better not.  This would be a huge blow to my numbers.  That after another customer took the month of june off from her ads to the tue of 2000.  I loose this sale and I'm screwed.  My boss is being a real ass, and saying I'm being too negative.  i walk out of his office saying that I don't think I'm the one jumping to conclusions, but he is.  It wasn't a BIG "going off on him" but I lost it.  I know my customers.  Just last week he said to  me that he was impressed how well I get to know my clients needs and how I re;ate to them.  Yeah right.  His first hand out when taking over the Boss job was a list of "Because the customer..." Well Jim...unless that is how each person conducts business every day, it's nothing more than words typed on paper.

Third mess, was that my two wonderful children ended up not being so wonderful today and I come home to seeing my son having had an anger issue and put his fist threw the wall.  So now that needs to be fixed.

Then on top of this, I take said son to work, and he's been laid off for this summer, and I happen to look at his paycheck.  They are paying him at a waitperson's rate for more than 50% of his worked hours.  He is 16, working in a supper club.  A wait person would be expected to serve alcohol.  He can't at 16 years old.  They also reported that he made money in tips.  He never did.  So it looks like I have sone reporting to do to the DWD and possibly an attorney.  I want to see his previous pay stub, and he has another check coming as well.  I'll be spending a few hours dealing with this Monday not only with the DWD but the employer you can be sure.  However, the employer is also a customer of the newspaper, so if this becomes an issue with my work where they ask me not to make waves to loose the revenue because I work there, I may have to take that to court.

UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Calgon take me away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who loves ya Jen?  Wink

I sent Dyl to take a long bath and to let whatever is eating at him find its way into the  water and let it all go down the drain.

I need a cleansing too, but at least my stress and anger are contained.  I'm not putting a hole in the wall, but I know the stress level is high because I can't seem to hold a glass of anything, tea or whatever without dropping it.  Has been this way for a good 2 weeks now.

I need a vacation....but I can't afford it right now.  I haven't make a full commision since Jim took over due to the over inflated goals.

I'm holding out for July 10th thats my one year anniversary, and then I can start to send out resumes.

I failed to explaine that this is period revenue.  there are 12 periods to a year.  Maybe that will make it clearer, and the numbers i posted were for period 6.  I hope taht makes this more understandable.

Thanks for that vote of "confidence?" Bro....

I'm sure Jen's husband can provide her will all she requires, and I've sworn off married men.  Show me the divorce decree and we'll talk.... Grin

Hang tough Redd!  Better times'll come your way eventually.  I'm glad you took to the keyboard to vent.  Job, kids, cars, a home; it can all add up and seem overwhelming at times.  I try to keep the long view in mind and the little stuff seems to take care of itself.

If you're looking to move on soon who gives a rats ass what your current idiot of a boss is really up to.  Do enough to keep the job and let him have his games with the next guy while you sail on to something else.  Hopefully something better.

The kids are the really important part.  Keep them going right and one of em'll end up a millionare and let you retire  Grin

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Thanks Dennis,

Trouble with the hole in the wall is that I rent...so there goes my security deposit when I move, unless I get it fixed, and I told Dyl he has to get another job and earn the money to fix it.  He made the mess he has to clean it up.

He's not getting out of it.

Yes, kids need to learn lessons the hard way.  Make him do the work.  Then have Jonny over to fix Dyl's work so the landlord will give you your security deposit  Grin  Good luck man.
