Wedding planning

Needless to say, I'm just a tad stressed! I'm going to be moving in a couple of weeks, so I'm cleaning, packing, etc. Trying to finish the invitations, which we're doing ourselves. Now I know why the professional invitations cost so much, they know people will pay it because making them yourself is a pain in the @ss! My matron of honor's dress doesn't fit and to order another one, it would take 10 weeks to get here, and my wedding is only 6 1/2 weeks away. I still have to get shoes and a headpiece for the wedding and I still have no idea what style I want for my hair for the wedding. Other than those things I'm having a ball! It is fun planning, but pretty stressful. My bridal shower is next Sunday, which I'm very excited about! Thanks for reading this. Just wanted to give you all an update.

| Is this your matron of honor's fault, or the seamstress' fault? If it's the latter, I'd threaten to force-feed the dress to the seamstress one mouthful at a time until he or she gets it correct and on-time. If it's the former, well, she knows what she needs to do. She's got six and a half weeks.

| It's the website's fault/seamstress. She took her measurements as outlined by the website, then sent the order in, ordering the size that she needed. She got the dress and it's way too small on top and they won't do anything about it, stating, "Oh, those dresses run small, you should have ordered a size larger than what you actually need." So, she's working her ass out, and that just sucks, she shouldn't have to since it was the website's/manufacturer fault.

And don't forget to enjoy it! It'll be 25 years in September, (assuming she doesn't wise up and dump me)...we still get out the wedding album and crack up over all the silly details we stressed out about. Wishing you all the best!!! Guiseppi

| Well, why didn't their website SAY the dresses run small, and SAY order a size bigger? I agree with Edub. Make noise. Have your matron of honor go to any good dress store and be professionally measured. See if those measurements agree with the ones she sent in to the bridal shop. If they do, by God, make waves, both her and you, the BRIDE! Demand that they ship another dress immediately because their advertising of the dress was incorrect and your measurements wer correct but their sizing was wrong. If the professional's measurements show that your Matron should have ordered the larger size, you may be out of luck. But, go back on their comment about "running small" and again DEMAND they send the next larger size. They should have told you from the get-go that the dresses run small. That being said, you're doing great, Bride! I planned my own wedding, in 1969, when times were a little less stressful, but it was still a whirlwind of things "to do". My youngest daughter is getting married in September, and she is doing most of the planning, but Mom is very heavily involved, because she can't seem to make a decision without my help (and money) Sandy

| I wish my mom was a little more involved. She does nothing. They gave me money to help with the wedding, which I appreciate a lot. But that was it, nothing else, no help planning or anything. She hasn't even started shopping for a mother of the bride dress or anything. Oh well, if she doesn't have a dress, then it's not my fault.

I am sorry Kimmie to hear your Mom does not show more interest, she may actually be sad to see her little girl go and acting like that is a sign of it...who knows? why don't you talk to her about how you feel? ...you will get to let out you bad feelings and at the same time you give her the chance to explain herself.. Good Luck girl!!

Also just found out today that Brian's mom has to have a ct scan tomorrow, because she's had bronchitis and they did a chest x-ray and apparently there is a spot on her lung. So, hopefully everything will work out. Please pray for her!

| Be very, very glad she is this way. She COULD be planning your wedding as the wedding of HER dreams. Take deep breaths and remember the wedding is only ONE day that starts the best time of your life. Put more energy into BEING married than getting married.

Kimmie, take a long breath there! Your day will be a great one, I'm sure of that. And it will be even better, if you find a way not to stress too much. I don't know what works for you, but I bet there's something which helps you. Can you ask your mother to do something? I'm sure that she has talent/experience/etc you could put into use. Maybe she waits for you to come to her if she's needed... And if you worry about her dress in some point, you can always suggest that the two of you will go shopping for a dress for her together. Moving can be stressful indeed! Take it one box at the time. It can be actually lots of fun to unpack all of them and find a place for each and every object. All the carrying can make you physically tired, but lets think it this way: no time to worry too much then! Hugs & lots of luck, Sanna
