It sounds like it works pretty well. I definately need to give it a try, my wife and kids are on me constantly to quit. I just added up what 1 1/2 packs a day costs me. $2,087.00 per year and I think that is a conservative number. Chewy, you and I could get a lot of lappers in Vegas for 2 grand! Thanks for the info. Chewy, I used Chantix only took 60 days worth of the recomended 120. It worked really well for me. I was able to quit smoking and have remained smoke free. The way that it works it binds with the Dopamanergic receptor sites in the brain which are the same that nicotine binds with. So when you stop smoking the brain is tricked into thinking that it is still recieving nicotine so you dont have withdrawls from the nicotine. While at the same time the need and craving from nicotine leaves the body which is why this method works better than nicotine patches or gum. You actually get the nicotine out of your system. Now the only habit that it does not work with is the oral fixation habit so plan on chewing alot of gum. Unles you just enjoy being a oral person. Rodger One side effect that I did not mention and dont think is listed is that coffee does not taste as good as it did. We dont drink as much coffee here as we did.

Chewy - I tried it and did indeed cut down on the number of smokes I was having per day 1 1/2 packs to 5 smokes per day -- BUT I couldn't sleep. Tried it for a couple of weeks and the insomnia factor was getting to be too much -- even tried Lunesta to counter the no sleeping.... only made things worse for me. Agree as well about the coffee not tasting as good!!

The Doc prescribed it to me to keep on hand should I get "the whim" to quit. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

| I want to do the same thing. I think I am FINALLY ready to quit, and this has been getting good results, from what I have read. Chuck

I've just started this medication. I've heard it cuts down on coffee as well. (Something else I've always wanted to cut out of my daily life at 3 pots a day). Now if there was a pill that could make lifting weights and working out addictive I'd be all set. I'll let you all know how it works.

I've thought about investing in this, even without insurance. In the long run the money saved would pay for it all 100 times over. Keep us posted so we can make informed decisions... (Hiya John)

| It is pretty expensive it cost me 50 dollars with my insurence. That was my co-pay. I take zoloft and it cost me ten. Hope that give you a idea. Or something to compare to. Rodger

Without Ins. it's approx. $120.00 for a 30 day supply. (it's a lot less on-line through those Canucks) If it works...and one takes it for say 2 months..it is well worth the health costs as well as cigarette costs. In Arizona for example, a carton of Marlboros was $53.50 I can get 2 cartons in Calif. for the same cost, but to me it's still worth it. I have a script for it in my hot little hands..just waiting for Nani to shame me into taking the habit I've grown accoumtomed to for lo, these many years and just "do it"
