......Morchella esculanta. Morels. Few things incite my greed, but these are one of them. Got about a pound that we'll cook up and gorge on this evening with rib steaks and fresh-picked asparagus. Best wishes and happy Saturday, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

| Lots of different ways to prepare them. One of the best and simplest is simply to slice them in half lengthwise, let them soak in salty water for a couple of hours, and sautee them in butter. They're anywhere between the size of a thumb to the size of a hand. There is an all-too-brief season for them here--just after snowmelt in recently burned-off forest land. The flavor is indescribable and unlike anything else, really. But delicious. on Jun 2nd, 2007, 7:47pm, Lotus wrote: Bon appetit, have a nice trip |
| Fortunately, it will only be a culinary journey. Best wishes, George

| Sheesh, another woman worring about size I like mushrooms lightly fried in REAL butter. They are best mixed with Americian (real Native Americian) wild rice. -P.

Great coincidence -- I just made my homemade mushroom soup tonight. About five different types of mushrooms, a ton of onions and beef broth. Supposed to rain tomorrow all day so I'm thinking mushroom soup, red wine, some cheese. A good day. Scott
