EJ Cavorting in Ghost Town

Liz's CRM company is headed up to Bayhorse, Idaho near Challis on Monday to do a survey of the long-abandoned townsite. The job should take about a week. The state just took over the property (which was in private hands for many years). I understand that the ultimate goal is to create a state historic site or state park there. Should be interesting to see what eventually happens, since the area is heavily contaminated with lead and arsenic--the result of mining activity long ago. It's a Superfund site. At least Liz and the others won't have to enter any of the buildings. It's much too hazardous--some are in an imminent state of collapse. Bayhorse was most active in the 1880's, and finally pootered out completely in the 1930's. While she's up slogging around in the weeds, fighting the ticks and the snakes and trying to stay out of the arsenic, Ellen and I will be holding down the fort here. Some people have all the fun. Don't know if any of you are interested in Western ghost towns, but here are a couple of links with some pics and info if you'd like to take a look. One of the sites is a commercial gallery, so just ignore the "buy pictures" come-ons. http://www.ghosttowngallery.com/htme/bayhorse.htm http://idahoptv.org/outdoors/shows/ghosttowns/bayhorse.html Best wishes, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

George, Thanks so much for sharing this. Loved the pics! If the walls in those buildings could talk...oh the stories they could tell.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

| How did the state pay the ghosts? I didn't see curtains, they weren't all that private. Rustic brisk little creek riffling by. Love the pics George!
