Hey gang.......thought suma ya mite have sum input for me...........I got into an orange binge eating faze before bedtime.......I get the big tangerines and slice them up while watchin tv before bed......beats junk food and there so dam goooooooood !There not that big so I'd cut up two or three of em and slice em up verses tear off segments......yummy!! I rarely have heartburn but have been plauged with it laltely and it got so bad I've  had trouble drinkin pop cuz it feels like was swollowin a golf ball....I figure that may be spasm's and irritation goin on or inflamation possibly ?? It got so bad I hardly even ate anything yesturday cept a few soft things.  I heard acid in oranges is hard on tooth enamel and then got to thinkin maybe the acid in them is causeing heartburn or damage esp since I eat so much at a time and late at nite ta boot. Rather eat oranges and crave them then cookies and chips so I didn't really think much about it. Kept gettin hiccups yesturday everytime I ate or drank sumthin (spasms again no doubt at a different level)........whadaya think Pam  Undecided

yep, Cootie - oranges (or too many of them, anyway) can do that to me, too.  You should probably talk to your doc about it.  I take Prilosec for my dumb tummy and can only eat an orange (or drink juice) every few days.  Causes terrible heartburn for me.  What about grapes instead?  Try freezing them - it's like eating a popsicle.  Just don't eat them TOO late at night because they do get your kidneys clean.  Wink

Thanks Margi.....I bet that is what caused the serious heartburn and it just didn't dawn on me till the other day........I been eating a PILE of orange slices late nite when everything is done and I FREE and cozy on the couch with my blankies and my cats watchin sum tv.  I used to crave snacks and junk food stuff late nite and was happy to find a better healthier replacement. So yestuday all I ate all day was a small piece of cake and about a cup of ice cream it got so bad. Ironically the store was OUT of my favorite oranges this week when I went for grocieries so I ran out. That mitea been a good thing. Amazeing how BAD heartburn can really get. I am thinkin I need to find new replacements for my replacements Pam

Hi cootie, sorry to hear about your acid intolerance [from the oranges].
The links/sites below may be of some assistance...

Sounds Like it could be GERD to me.  Linda has it and some o f the symptoms sound like it could be the same.  She uses Gaviscon for the heartburn and some other stuff too.  Check with your Dr as it can develope into something worse.

Aww drink some aloevera juice (mix it with fruit juice) and the acid thingy will clear up. Oranges are good for you. About three glasses of aloevera juice a day (1/2 and 1/2 with fruit juice) ought to keep you acid free. Beats pills. Granny's remedy...
