Gouged at the pump....

Lets keep a tally on just how high gas prices go over the summer across the nation. It may help us folks who are planning to take some road trips over the vacation season to budget if we can see the price trends. Central WI $2.99.9 average as of this morning.

I have been thinking about this. It seems to me that once the initial high price shock wears off, we (my self included) just seem to accept it and move on and say very little about it anymore. I have however personally been trying to plan trips more carefully and avoiding the unecessary ones. But maybe thats the whole point of it all? Jimmers

| I seriously doubt that the oil companies are raising their gasoline prices to teach us to conserve gasoline. Most people use their vehicles to go to work, shopping, etc. and really can't cut back that much on how much gas they use. Whether you are a "L" or a "C", the oil companies are only interested in the "P" word and want us to use as much gas as possible. The price of gasoline has gone up about $.10 per gallon in the past week and it is not unrealistic for the price to be $4.00 per gallon by the summer and guess who will be laughing all the way to the bank? Use your car as little as possible and invest what you save in gas in oil company stocks! I find it amazing how many Americans I see driving big SUVs and other gas guzzlers-unfortunately, they are becoming popular over here, but so far only a few people have them.

I'm a sales rep, and I drive between clients alot during the week, just a part of my job, to pick up ad copy, proof ads, get payments, make presentaions and sign contracts, deliver tearsheets and the list can go on and on. Oh we can get mileage reimbursement, but at .28 cents a mile? Please, ...maintanance and higher insurance rates eat that up. Hollywood CA was at $3.69.9

Excuse me for mentioning this, but we are not the only people on this planet using gasoline. China's and India's rate of gasoline consumption has gone up exponentially in the last 10 years due to many factors, including their booming economies. Supply and demand - that's all it is.

| While that might be part of the reason for the long term rise in the price per barrel, it does not account for the $1 rise in the price per gallon of gas in the last 2 months. Gas in the real Milwaukie has gone from 2.29 to 3.29 since February. By the way, Bill, Milwaukie was Milwaukie before Milwaukee was Milwaukee. (or at least we keep tellin' ourselves that)

Holy CRAP Helen. I sure hope there is good public transportation you can use near you. But when you think about it, go to a tavern here in the states and we are willing to pay 3 dollars for 12 oz of beer. Or 4 bucks a pack for smokes? Guess we could save for gas money by quitting drinking and smoking? But then life would really be dull....

We do have pretty good public transport here, buses into town from right outside my house every 15 minutes and its cheaper to use the train for trips to London but I do drive alot as well - I love it to be honest! My car is quite economical too (when you stick to under 70mph that is... )

| My stomach is OK Brew; with my chronic CH I can only drive to and from work, about 8KM each way, before the pain gets too bad, so a tankful lasts me quite a while. I still think that we ought to teach the oil companies a lesson and drive as little as possible-walking is healthy and helps to get rid of our own supply of internal gas -I love sauerkraut!

If they took the 10% ETOH out of the freeking gas the MPG would go up 10-15% and that would help supply. People don't realize how detramental ethanol is to gas mileage. The ethanol was a political move for the corn growers and is in fact worse for the environment, the cars, the food industry and your wallet. Guess who you can blame for that one? By summer prices will be ~$3.5-3.8/ gal. Much more is a refinery goes down or supply is inturupted. At 40K mi/ year it hits me hard. -P.

| I live in a county where it is REQUIRED to have ethanol in every gallon - because we supposedly have bad air quality - yeah right. We sometimes drive 40 to 70 miles out of the area to fill up our gas cans with NON-ethanol gas. If ethanol is so great, why does it have to be mandated? Shouldn't it just speak for itself??
