Who knows what's true anymore? Do you really think that "IF" the war was generated and perpetuated by the powers that be... for personal gain and less than noble reasons... they would admit that? Do you think they could justify the loss of life of our noble and well intentioned soldiers? I have another question? Why are our soldiers who so willingly and bravely fight for our freedom... and lay down their lives treated like crap by our Govt. when they come home injured or with permanent disability. And... why do we the people stand for it? Am I unpatriotic for wondering when these politicians, left and right are going to do their jobs and see to it that our patriots are cared for? Am I less then patriotic for asking you why you put up with it? Bullets, guns and the machinery of war are big ticket items.... someone is making SCADS of Money with this war. Yet my brother... a former Marine who was injured during the Vietnam war is still waiting for the govt. to give him his deserved disability. Ya wanna BITCH??? Bitch about how these soldiers are disrespected by OUR Govt. who ask them to lay down their lives and then ignore them when they come home broken. Do you think the politicians would put up with the same treatment? Gee I wonder what their healthcare and retirement package looks like. We can hardly fix our own bureaucratic mess with the Disabled American Veterans here in this country... and we want to fix some other country's mess? Our money should be better spent taking care of our own first. If we need soldiers... outsource like we outsource our work force. just my pissed off two cents. with warm regards, Tony

Why hasn't this administration done anything to fix the problem and why haven't we demanded it? Why do we keep letting it slide? Why isn't it a major topic of debate in the upcoming political campaign. We keep throwing bodies at someone else's problem before we take care of our bravest strongest and broken. I don't think the war means as much to him as hurting the GOP does. Even his peers are starting to turn on him, he has become an embarrassment. You get what you vote for.

Let's finish the job we started. Whatever it takes! Our mission is to set up a government that can govern. Maybe it was a mistake to go there and maybe we can only speculate why those who made the decision to go did so. But we are there, let's not pull out or give any kind of date, let these men and women do what we asked them to do. They will do it! Our credibility in the world is shot, can you imagine or does it even matter to folks what that means? And now that Iran has so much influence there can we afford to leave??

| He may be the commander in chief, but do you really think numbnuts makes all the calls?? Let the Pentagon run the war and the fartknockers in office should do what they do best. Vote on an artificial rain forest in Iowa, or bridge for 12 people in my home state Alaska. Reid is from a state of roughly 2 million, who the fuck is this guy to give any kind of educated opinion. I thought the war in Iraq was so we could control the production and distribution and cost of the oil that this region has. Until we master the power of nuclear to supply our industrial machineries, we rely heavily on oil. Currently, the ones who control oil have power. No? Annette

| Not really, the ones with the largest military might have power. If anything, it's really about having a military base and presence in the region for security of our interests and the interest of our allies.

Actually, the US military gets paid very well-go on a base and see all of the new cars. Too bad that they are being wasted in Iraq and Afganistan. Bring 'em home for Christ's sake-they have become involved in a civil war and that is a war that the U.S. can't win. The Iraqui's will have to sort that out for themselves. They got rid of Saddam, so as far as I'm concerned, they did their job.

| No, that's one but there's also Isreal and general stability in the region. Also, this neo-con executive branch really is interested in instituting democracy, seemingly by force. They are hoping it will take hold and we will eventually have a reasonable ally in the region that leases us a alot of land for a military base and gives us cheap oil. Of course, hope is not a plan as they are finding out. Who know's, maybe in there secret military meeting Dick Cheney is wringing his hands and laughing an evil laugh about the American public being such a bunch of tools, but I doubt it. They think they are right. I think they are foolish and that us and our children will pay for their foolishness.

They might as well send engraved invitations: "Dear terrorist, "You are cordially invited to Baghdad on March 1, 2008, for a farewell party for U.S. armed forces. By that date the last U.S. service member will be withdrawn from Iraq, and you are invited to celebrate as you see fit. There will be plenty of unsecured weapons to hoard, unguarded borders to cross and defenseless infidels to slaughter." "B.Y.O.B.* "Sincerely, "The Democratic Congress" "* Bring Your Own Bomb" That would be the effect of the Iraq supplemental spending bill Congress approved last week. The bill would require the retreat of all U.S. forces from Iraq by next March at the latest. Thank goodness President Bush has pledged to veto it and Congress hasn't enough votes to override the veto. The bill would not have passed had House leaders not larded it up with about $21 billion worth in pork spending. We seem to recall 2nd District Rep. Paul Hodes campaigning against pork-barrel spending. But the pork in this bill sure did not bother him. He and Rep. Carol Shea-Porter both voted to turn Iraq over to the enemy. Sens. Judd Gregg and John Sununu voted against telling the terrorists exactly when we'd be leaving. Everyone knows that the war in Iraq is not going very well. Gen. David Petraeus said last week that the overall level of violence in Baghdad has remained about the same despite the added U.S. troops. But Petraeus, unanimously confirmed by the Senate, believes he can turn this war around, given time and resources. The Democrats, incredibly, are determined to deny him both. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called the war "lost" and other Democratic leaders tried to distance themselves from his comment. Yet they nonetheless voted for a bill to end the war prior to victory. In other words, to give up and go home. Obviously, most Democrats in Congress believe the war is lost and are unwilling to continue fighting it. Which is exactly the result the terrorists have worked so hard to achieve.

| Bro, those are some great buzz words, but how would this differ from what is happening now? Have 'the terrorists' been holding back for the last 4 years? Have they NOT been hoarding unsecured weapons? Have they NOT been crossing unsecured borders? Have they NOT been slaughtering defenseless infidels for the last 4 years? Whether we leave or whether we stay, according to your argument and the picture you paint, nothing will change either way except for the cost. You forgot a very important talking point, though, bro: If we leave Iraq, the terrorists will follow us home. John McCain is right. Iraq is now a safe place, and you can walk around the streets with no armour. He even went to a marketplace and bought some rugs. It only took 100 armed military personnel to escort him, 10 armored Humvees, 7 Blackhawk choppers and 2 Apache Gunships. Mission Accomplished...again.
