Debate

Quote Quote Modify Modify

Well, tonight is the big night -- The democratic debate... oh joy ---

the news has been debating all day so I wonder what's left for tonight?

Let's see, Hillary has to act human, Obomba has to talk intelligently and actually say something, Dean has to talk presidential (because of his age) and the others have to do something to make themselves known.

And no one can pick on Hillary cause she's a "girl".

They're gonna talk about the war and everyone is going to have to give where they stand and why (maybe).

Then we get to have the Rep debate. That should really be interesting. With Rudy in there we'll get into abortion and all that fun stuff.

And to think we've got another year and a half of this mess.

Its all a joke...I'm a registered Democrat, and have no desire to watch this debate....Rudy Guliani and John McCain (sp?) are the two best candidates and I hope the United States see that....I worry that americans base their opinions on what is said on the news at 6:00....instead of reasearch and actually listening to candidates' plans and desires for this country.... promises mean nothing to me...actions do

I am the most non-political person you will ever meet...but I don't think this world is ready for a woman or a black president....I hope that doesn't come out wrong....

I just want the best man/woman for the job and the current president has made republicans a very easy target...its scary to me to think what is going to happen with the presidency, country, war, I can't say Merry Christmas and no one is American anymore, we're all from Africa and Asia and India I guess I'm Irish American even though my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were BORN and grew up in America....and well you get the point.....everything is about being PC...fuck PC....its ridiculous!

Wow, I think I'll step off my soapbox now....sorry Barbara I don't want to hijack your thread...this stuff just gets under my skin I guess...

thank you and good night!  Kiss

We'll get to the general election next year, after the parties have nominated their candidates, and this is how I see the choices that will be offered:

"Well, Mr. Diabetic, you can either have cotton candy or a Snickers bar."

"But, I'm Mr. Diabetic. Either one of those things will kill me."

"Sorry, those are your choices."

"Okay. I'll take the Snickers bar. At least it has a few nuts in it."

The bad part is they can promise anything and then blame not getting it done on the other party.

We need change alright.... A BIG change. I think anyone who's been there for over 10 years ought to retire, quit or be impeached. We just don't need career politicians. We need NEW BLOOD in DC - and in our State's also.

And campaign spending should be a BIG LAW. IT's getting terrible to spend as much as they do to get elected. And not owe any "favors" -- oh yeah right! And I've got a beautiful bridge in NY for sale - cheap.

Think I'll join you at the video store.

Yup!  The only thing that will stop congress is term limits and I would suggest that the WHOLE current lot of them be thrown out and start fresh so the "Old Boys Club" dosn't pass along the corruption to the new ones.  Kind of keeps the cancer from festering, so to speak.

The last debate I actually sat through was the Nixon-Kennedy debate in 1960. The family voted for Nixon but mom and dad loved to hear JFK. It was the first tv one of course and a good example of politics of the time....Civil.

I'm gonna wait and listen to a pundit or two or read a synopis. Too much, too soon for me.

Didn't watch it, but from reading the newspaper and the news websites, I don't think I missed much of anything.  Same old rhetoric.

But, what worries me about the upcoming elections is this.

We've had a republican controlled congress, both house and senate, with a republican in the white house, and look what we've got.  Carte blanche to ramrod just about anything they want through.

Now, we have a democratic controlled congress.  If this country elects a democrat as President, same thing.

What ever happened to the supposed "checks and balances" that our government was founded upon??? Huh
