Will share the story later, but here are the pics! (And no, I wasn't the one driving - I was just riding on the back!) Won't say how fast we hit on I95...the speed limit! I loved it - can't wait to ride again!! My friend thinks that next week I'll probably sell my car and buy a bike - that might be true! ha...!

I wouldn't exactly sell the car unless you buy a little pick up truck, as there are riding days and then there other days when ridin ain't all that great.. IF you get serious about really wanting a bike first sign up for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course, which is a must do, even before you look at bikes hard. Passing that is a must do to get the endorsement on your divers lic.. Depending where you are it may offer a break on insurance. Then since this place isn't for bikes really go to http://forum.motorcycle-usa.com/ and say hi in Newbies. Read all the stickies in Newbies too, before you seek purchase for any bike.. I hope you liked the ride well enough to really ride...

theres nothing quite like the wind swishing over your helmet, reverberating in your ears, the bugs hitting you in the face, or the jerks changing lanes because they cant see you, to really make you feel alive. Motorcycling is great. I hope you do get addicted. sure it can be dangerous, but what cant be these days. there arent many things left in this world that can make you feel alive and free like throwing a leg over your bike and hitting road. enjoy. (p.s. if you do look at getting a motorcycle, i highly recommend going british, Triumph Sprint RS, yellow Turts

LOL No worries - I'm not going to get a motorcycle...at least not until I ride for a lot longer than 1 night! haha... For those who don't know, the city sky line there is Philadelphia, and in the pic where I'm sitting down with the bike behind me, that's the Philadelphia Art Museum.... I started dating this guy, Jordan, about a week and a half ago, but we've been talking on the phone for a week longer than that even. It's going better than the start of any other relationship I've ever had, even though we're still in the early stages so we aren't calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend just yet. He rides - that's his bike. He's a year older than me and is less than a year away from getting his neuroscience PhD. I'm also a big time neuro nerd. He's also been playing piano since he was 4, and he plays several other instruments. So - perfect for me! He knows about the headaches (both the CH and the chronic migraine....I gave him a brief overview of the last 6+ years - which has included a lot of craziness...but basically if a person can't deal with that side of my life, then I don't want to waste my time.) He was so cool about it all - he said he really likes my optimism about it, and he said that he is enjoying getting to know me and hearing my stories, and so he wants to know that part of my life, too. So last night, he took me on the motorcycle for the first time. He's been riding for years. As far as I know, he's only had one bad bad accident, and he did get one bad bad speeding ticket once! But those were both years ago... He lives with a bunch of roommates including this girl from Australia, who is so sweet. They're like brother and sister (truly), and she rides with him a lot. The helmet I was wearing is half hers and he paid for the other half, so in return, he gets to use it for other riders whenever he wants. I would NEVER ride without a helmet, and I had the visor over my eyes every time we were moving - can't imagine riding without a helmet or even with those half-helmets! I liked how the Helmet sort of kept me from blowing all over the place, and also made it not quite so loud, even though it's still loud. I just went out and got a nice bandana to wear under it because my hair looked like shit after riding for awhile....that's the 2nd of those 2 pics! ha... And I do have a leather jacket, so I wore that and jeans and sneakers. Jordan is so good about this - he said he didn't want to scare me and he was going to start off slow. He lives in Chestnut Hill (Philly), so we made this loop on Kelly Dr. and West River Drive - they go along the Schuylkill. It was fun going past Boathouse Row and looking at the city while on the bike. Our first ride was pretty short because he actually lost a contact when he started up without his visor down! Our 2nd ride was longer - we took Kelly Drive to the Art Museum, and then we sat up there for awhile. He was trying to get ahold of his friend to see if a bunch of them were riding somewhere, but nobody was out riding last night. So then we took I95 down to the stadiums. Unfortunately, a game was letting out, so we sort of took different roads back up to center city. Then we took the Vine Street Expy and the Schuylkill Expy out to Roxborough because we were looking for a place to get ice cream, but everything was closing! So we got ice cream at Wawa and went back to his house to eat it. It was so fun!!! I'm quite sore today, but it was great. He said that for a first time rider, I did very well - I listened to his instructions mainly because I didn't want to do anything that would cause either of us to get hurt! haha.... Mainly just staying still, leaning the way he was leaning on the curves, and then repositioning when we were either going straight or stopped at a light or something. His roommate (the Aussie) taught me how to secure the helmet, get on the bike, and how to sit/hold on. I loved it! So tonight, a bunch of his friends are riding again, and originally I was supposed to work tomorrow so I wasn't going to be able to go. However, one of the nurses called me and asked if I would work Thursday and have off tomorrow. So - now the plan is for me to go out on the ride, too!! Supposedly we'll be doing the Kelly Dr/West River Dr loop and riding down by the airport, etc. Because I know Jordan is thinking about me being a new rider on the back of his bike, I actually felt very safe and was able to relax and have fun! As the night went on, I got more relaxed than I started off!! I was holding onto his sides instead of holding around the waist, unless we went on the highway and went super fast. He'll either tap my leg or if we're stopped and about to get on the highway, he tells me to hold on. He's not trying to scare me or show off, and that makes it so much better. Even when we ride tonight with his buddies, he said if he has to, he'll hang towards the back of the pack so that I don't get scared...he's not going to do any wheelies or anything else insane with me on the bike right now! Thank goodness!! It was just a ton of fun, and I thought you guys would want to see the pics!! Oh and I'll post a pic of his bike in the daytime. He likes to go fast, and so do I - it was fun! But darn my butt hurts today - as do my shoulders! LOL.... Hugz, Carrie

Yamaha R1: every Sport Bikers dream machine! You tell Jordan to be extra careful while he has you on the back, ok! This is one of the fastest production bikes available. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelspecs/6/0/specs.aspx Take care on that bike, Carrie and Jordon! But have fun. Barry
