Headed to the hospital

Please keep me in your thoughts. I woke up tonight, couldn't stand up straight because my stomach hurt so bad, couldn't go 1 or 2, so Brian is headed here to take me to the ER. I've been having some problems with this over the last couple of weeks, I just thought I was constipated, even though it would hurt to sit down, etc. My parents think it might be kidney stones. We'll see.

Make damn sure you get it checked out - when that happened to me it turned out to be a full paralytic ileus - my upper and lower GI tract had become fully paralyzed. Get in there and get it checked out! Cat

Hi all! Thanks for the well wishes. I got out of the hospital around 4:00 a.m. They're not exactly sure what's wrong. Confidence-inspiring. And Beth, you'll know why, I went to Anderson. Ha ha. They think it could be cysts on my ovaries, a bladder infection or something called Interstitial Cystitis. I don't know. I'll have to make an appointment with a urologist on Monday if the antibiotics don't work and I'm still in pain. Right now, I'm still a little uncomfortable and I'm going to take the day off to rest and hope that the antibiotics work! My parents still firmly believe that I have a kidney stone. All the hospital did was take a urine sample, told me that there wasn't much bacteria in it and gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. So, we'll see.....I'll keep you updated. Thanks!! Edited to add: Please keep some friends of ours (Brian and myself) in your thoughts and prayers. There are some accusations being brought upon our friend, he's a teacher at a nearby school and him and his wife are having a hard time. He would NEVER do any of the things they are accusing him of. It's ridiculous!

Awww Kimmie! That is frustrating, and yes, unfortunatly I know exactly what you are talking about with the hospital. You should have gone to Barnes (I'm sure you have heard that before). If you find a good Urologist, let me know, I need one since mine retired. Get lots of rest and let everyone take care of you. You need to be in top shape for that wedding . I haven't heard anything about the teacher accusations from any of my kids or their friends. Unfortunately, when accusations are made, the one being accused is made to feel guilty until proven innocent. And even then, the damage is already done. Sorry your friend is going through that. Take care, Beth

Sorry you're feeling bad Kimmie. Hope you get to feeling better soon !! Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I've had kidney stones twice. The first time I had to have surgery ( lithotripsey ... sp) and the second time I passed them. Both times it was very sharp pains in my lower back on the right side. Hopefully you don't have stones. Goodluck & keep us posted ! Best wishes UNsolved

Sorry to hear this happened to you!! I also used to get upset when I'd have something go really wrong and the ER would basically just throw something at it and send me on my way. But after the 10th time that had to happen over something, I finally figured it out. The ER is not a diagnostics place - it's an emergency room - a place where they get the emergency under control until you can get an appointment with someone who can do the diagnosing. Now - if they didn't fix the emergency and it's still an emergency to you, then that's a problem - however, if they got it under control until you can see someone who will diagnose and treat the underlying problem in the way only a specialist can, then they technically did their job! Not trying to give you an "ear full" or anything - but rather just sharing what I've learned by constantly going to the ER for something bad and walking out puzzled with why they didn't try to find the cause of what went wrong, but rather just threw something at it and then sent me off to the specialist. I really hope that you feel better soon!! And yes, you've got a keeper there!!! Hugz, Carrie
