Being exposed to violence on a continuous basis will desensitize a person, especially a young child. The parents are the ones who need to police what thier children are doing and who they are doing it with. The conputer, tv, and video games have become the babysitter of the 21st century and that is very sad. NAY I'm against them, but Aye, they are not going to go away as long as there is a consumer to purchase them. Beth

If the question is whether I would acquire inherently violent video games for use by me or my kid, then--Nay--against. Won't allow them in the house. That being said, nearly any video or computer game can be rendered disturbing by an inquisitive and experimental mind. When she was little, my kid used to put her Sims characters into rooms with no windows or doors, with nothing but paintings of clowns on velvet to look at. Walled them up like monks until they went insane and wasted away. It was horrible and pathetic. If the question is whether I would I consider some sort of draconian restriction of inherently violent video games by the government, I have to say that I don't much care for that idea. Best, George

| Yep... it is the person... I guess what I'm thinking is that if you teach a kid it's ok to kill... then he will. Yipee... free enterprise! As adults we would hardly encourage our children to go on a weekend sniper outing. Yet it seems to me that turning our heads and allowing kids to play these games is somehow giving them a nod and a wink that it's ok. One might argue that they are just games... I see them more as a training ground... with warm regards, Tony

And let's take it even further. One can keep all the guns and violent toys away from a boy child (no experience with girl kids) and they will make their toast, their finger, or their legos into a gun, a sword or another type of weapon. They will "shoot" other children with rubber bands, with marshmallows, or with twigs. As sexist as it sounds, boys DO this stuff and that's that - (it DOESN'T predict future behavior or mean they are doomed to grow up to massacre students or co-workers) IMHO, of course.

Yay or nay what? I am against government censorship of video games. How about spending some time thinking about these issues and looking at the facts rather than using 'control' as a band-aid for todays tragedy?

Yay. (keep them) I also vote 'yay' to euthanizing stupid people before they can breed. Idiot/bad parents lead to idiot/stupid children, who think being a gangsta is a career.

| I couldn't of said it better myself!!!!!!!!! I'll stay with minority, it has nothing to do with the "M" rating on the video game, its the psychotic person behind the 9mm that is solely responsible. Sean....................................

Parental warnings are a good thing... I wish more parents read them. I don't think we should censor those games, but I sure don't think young kids should play them. We can't legislate good parenting, and that's what this issue boils down to. It is possible to de-sensitize a young child with repeated exposure to violence.

I hate most video games and certainly violent ones. No matter what they say, it just ain't healthy. Kids get terrible information about what it's like to use weapons. Contrary to what you see on tv and movies, unless you are an extraordinary shot and not at all rattled, people can be pretty tough. Sometimes they keep coming after you. Kids need to know that it ain't a phaser they are using. It's not cinematic. Alfred Hitchcock had a pretty good example of this in one of his later spy movies. I can't remember the title. Censorship? No. Common sense? Yes Charlie

Boston, at this time has a higher murder rate than New York this year. Is it because of the video games, or because heroin is 4 dollars a bag? Sean...................................... (sp)
