I have a husband/soldier coming home on a mid-tour leave...the 27th of this month...what are some good romance tips...have fresh flowers, candles...

Well, the first thing I thought of was "make babies!", but I don't know where you stand on that in your life so I suppose that any time that he gets to spend with you will be special.

I am a hopeless romantic and one of the things I did for Darryl was to make a CD with all of "our" songs on it:
The song that always made him think of me, even before we got back together (old best friends, I moved back to town)
the first song he sang to me, the first (and only!) that we danced to, etc. all special to us for different reasons. He still gets all mushy when we listen to it together

Nothing wrong with practicing .
Make reservations at your favorite restaurant, having pre-ordered his favorite dish, and yours.
or
Make an appointment for a "couple's" massage at a spa. Hot stone massage is great for the "alpha-male" sort.
Run an ad in the local newspaper welcoming him home.
just a few ideas.

That is an awesome suggestion!!! The newspaper...then I could frame it...make a shadow box memoirabilia (I botched that word)...I really love that. And so will he.
No Im not trying to make conversation...I know the obvious...but I want to go the extra mile...being I may never see him again and all that kind of stuff.
Yes, we would love to make babies...we decided it may be better to wait until he's home for good...and he got an three month extstension...so we want him to be here for the birth...but we're looking forward to it when the time comes. Thanks Ladies.

Ah another military wife...you understand..
This is his first homecoming...and it's to an apt he's never been in...he's on a mid-tour leave for five days..
He's leaving Baghdad tomorrow, but will not arrive here until between the 26th and 28th...anytime on those dates...so I have to be ready from the twenty sixth...
I live fifteen minutes away from the city(of Philadelphia)..and they have some great Italian restaurants and South Street is a fun place to stroll with unique shops, etc....and Penn's Landing.
So I want the house to look great...romantic, cozy...and at least one night take him out...although I don't want to cook alot...I don't want to waste any time while he's here...I love to cook, and he's already told me he's missed certain things I make. So I will make one of his favorites...he likes center cut pork roast...that's easy enough.
Im a crafter too...making a few swags, with twigs, dried orange slices, cloves, raffia, brown eucalyptus...Thanks....

I can always count on the girls...  ...to warm my heart and to think of EVERYTHING. I know my romance "secrets"... I guess they've worked!!! But I love to hear what you girls have up your clever sleeves...
I plan to get him liquored up and take complete advantage of him....that boy will leave in a daze. Poor thing...and don't plan on alot more than being alone with him. Everyone has my attention, at all times, all year around.
However, if HE wants to go out, etc....I will be sure to do what pleases him. As I stated, this is an apt he's never seen yet...and Philly isn't his home town. He's from New York...and mercifully his parents currently live in Florida. Talk about killing the mood...his mother would be at my door constantly and calling...don't take this wrong ladies...I understand where she's coming from. BUT...she has a long history of interfering in a malicous, deliberately cruel way..i.e...she gave his cell phone number to a girl she worked with, continually pitted us against eachother...telling us damaging lies about the other...stalked me/us...she would sit in her car outside of our apt for up to FIVE HOURS...that's the longest I timed her anyway...and those are only a mere few examples...so mother in laws, mothers with married sons...please don't think I have any problems with embracing a mother in law...but this lady is sick.
For quite awhile..I was very welcoming and warm to her...even after she started her crap..I forgave her many, many times...trying to "start fresh"...she has nearly caused us to get divorced...and when that happened it was time to step in. Any major problems, fights, nearly divorcing...were all preceded by a lie told by her or a deliberateley malicous act by her. I would love to be close to my husband's family...family is very important to me...being I havent had the priviledge of ever experiencing it. So John and I are creating that for ourselves...
I just wanted to be clear about that...as not to offend mothers. I welcome and understand the need of a family...it's a shame it has to be this way. Love all of you...Sherri
