FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL...FOR TIFFANY

As some of you may know, my sister passed away almost a month ago. I have all 3 kids and the youngest one has been with me the last 2 months. She started school today with her two older siblings who go to private school. Lots of changes to adjust to for these 3 kids. Especially the 2 youngest. Lee has been with me a year, but Tiffany having been with me only 2 months is still reeling from all the changes - especially her Mom's death. It must be hard...new home, new environment, new parents, new rules, new uniform, new friends. And she's hasn't complained yet. Today I made sure to walk her to class and meet her teacher personally, and get a list of what she needs so we can stop by Staples after school. Plus, also had to scope out the class. You know, look out for the bratty boys that might be mean to her. I can spot them easily. She was worried she would be the tallest in her class. Of course, I prayed someone as tall as her or taller would walk in. We were the first ones there. The last girl that walked into the class was a little taller. We both breathed a sigh of relief. So then I had to muster the strength to leave the classroom and leave her to face her day alone. So I watched her walk to her desk, put her stuff away, cross her legs and hold her head up high. She seemed way older to me than 10 years old. So I whispered "have a good day baby, see you at 3 when I'll hear all about how great your day went". I smiled and ran out of there. Whew! Of course I made sure not to do the "mommy hug and kiss in public" thing. Crystal, the 16 yo, has taught me how utterly embarrasing that is. Sigh. So I made sure to get all the hugs and sqeezes and kisses in the car, though . Anyway, just wanted to tell Tiffany how proud I am of her for being so brave in so many ways. These 3 kids amaze me - all the time. And i'm not easily amazed. Langa

Langa... Bless your heart. I'm tipping my hat to you and thinking how proud I am to know you. Thank you for sharing your Tiffany story with us. Keep notes, Sweetie.....you need to write a book one day. Hallmark would make a movie of it for sure. Much love to you, Jackie

Thanks guys. It truly has been a battle all the way. We're all just doing the best we can. For me, these kids are my heroes as well as Gordon - poor man didn't know what he was in for. And yet, he still loves me and adores the kids. Sometimes, life is good to you. Tiffany had a wonderful first day. She made 5 friends, we got all her supplies and her gym outfit. I'm all pooped out. Good night guys. Langa
