I miss him at the most at Easter time

I'm getting ready to welcome our appartment's first official quest (mum arrives tomorrow afternoon), I can't help put travelling 10 years back in time.

To a complitely different Easter.

To the one my father passed away.

April is kind of bitter sweet time for me. My birthday is in April, but so is also the day my father died - and those two are just 4 days apart.

This year as Easter is getting closer, the pain, the memories, the loss... they all come back.

I recall very well that dad died on a Friday, they called us at 3am in the morning. The next day mum and I went to see Easter Passio, an Easter concert at the church mum and dad were wed 27 years before.

I know that this time Easter is earlier than 14th (my birthday) or 18th (the day he died), but during the past decade Easter has meant that I recall dad more than many other times of the year. And when 18th arrives, I know that I'm always bit sad.

My heart goes out to all the people at this board and their closeones, who have just lost a loved one. I wish you strength, I wiss you patience, I hope that you allow yourself all the feelings you're feeling. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

"I am the resurrection and life. Who believes in me, when he dies, he will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me, will not die forever" (John 11,25).

I lost my little brother and my Grandmother and every year  in the date of their birthday and anniversary the pain is there, I miss then terribly, but when I read these words I feel better because I know they are in a better place....

Faith is the only thing that gives me comfort and hope, I know that one day we will all be together again..

Have Faith Sanna, your Dad is not at all gone, He lives in your heart forever.  Smiley

In 1996 I lost my best friend Bob on February 1st, my birthday.
Exactly one month later on March 1st (Ash Wednesday) my mother died.
Exactly one month later April first I woke to find my German Shepherd "Shadow" dead.
Exactly one month later my friend Danny passed away.

It had gotten to a point where I feared the beginning of each new month.

I wonder what sort of lesson I was meant to learn from this?

Nothing lasts forever.... cherish each moment you have and all of those loved ones (and not so loved ones) who enter our lives. When our loved ones die, they take a small piece of the tapestry of our lives that they help create. New friends and family help to patch and repair the tapestry... it's never the same but it warms our souls and comforts us from the harsh realities.

I am grateful to my friends and family for helping me to celebrate the memory of my loved ones gone. With time the pain of loss has been replaced with the joy of knowing they have somehow touched me and are still somehow with me... and I feel a sense of gratitude that they made a place for me in the tapestry of their lives as well.

with warm regards,
Tony

Try not to think about your loss Sanna, but of his gain into the unknown.  I wholeheartedly believe there is something wonderful out there in the beyond.  Something so much greater than this human existence.

I always feel my mom's energy whenever I think of her.  It's like she's all around me and that keeps me from being sad.  I bet your dad is with you right now hon and I'm sure he'd give you a hug if he could.

love you...

"Death is just another path.  One we all must take.  The great gray curtin of this world rolls back and all turns to Silver glass.  And then you see it.  White shores, and beyond; a far green country under a swift sunrise."

Sadness is not what anyone wants those of us here to feel.  Rejoice for the fact that they lived, and know they will be there on those white shores to greet you with open arms when it's your time to come.

Take courage and strength from them; as they offer it willingly threw fond memories of the trial and tribulation they overcame in this world.  They pass on their knowlege and courage to you.

Mom hasn't been passed 2 years, yet her energy and spirit come to visit often in the song of the wind and the birds she so loved, and the nesting of Cardinals in the evergreen bush out my front door.

Our loved ones are with us always and speak to us in a new language.  If we quiet ourselves enough to listen....
