This is Gage's Mom Lauren's Posting from his Caringbridge Site yesterday. Day 33. Wonderful, amazing news! Clear, healthy bone marrow and 100% donor!!! Gage is in remission! Yahooooo!!! Thank you Lord and thank you everyone for your strong, passionate prayers! Looks like we may be discharged from the hospital on Thursday! It was another long, anxious day and around 4:30 the docs. came to the room with the good news! Another day to celebrate! Gage is still on steroids for the level 2, acute GVHD. He seems to be improving ... but eating is still a challenge. We hope going home will help improve his hunger ... he really hates the smell of hospital food. For the last couple of days we have been given passes to leave the hospital for a few hours. We ventured out to a local park yesterday and today. It has been wonderful watching our amazing little guy run and play with such joy and enthusiasm! We have just returned from the park and Gage is full of smiles with rosey cheeks and sparkles in his eyes. So, what next? We go home to the condo and between Thursday and day 100, spend time between enjoying our freedom and clinic visits a couple of times a week. We will be living with a lot of restrictions such as avoiding crowds, staying within 30 mins of the hospital and keeping Gage away from soils and water. I anticipate clinic visits and hospital school keeping us pretty busy, so hopefully needing a lot of additional activities won't be an issue.
