What a week from Hell

I can't even explain just how bad it was.  So many things that are going to swept under the rug, so many mistakes made...(not by me) that will go ignored.  All being made by someone who was just promoted.  Gawd Damn I hate the seniority based promotion systen rather than the merit based.

Crazy thing is, there is no HR director to go to.  She's one of the Managers that left.  (go figure after 18 years with the company.)  Dropped balls all over the place.

I'm left cleaning up other peoples messes while they take all the glory and present with holyer than thou additudes because their "boyfriend" is star reporter at a sister newspaper.  OMG I feel ready to puke over the whole freaking mess.  Even the new "advertising manager" dropped the ball on a special section that I have to follow up on, and nothing with his accounts is ready, and I start presentations on Tuesday for this.  Vague I know but the details would be a book to write.

So because I was assigned to head this project, and with all the upheaval and the people quitting, or getting let go, and all the cazyness of others having to pick up the slack....I'm burned crispy.

Back in High Cycle doesn't help matters.  It all seems to have converged at one time.  A downward spiral that I can't foresee an end to.

I'm disallusioned over all the "promises" that were made.  The delusions they not only live but function under.  Told one thing and experience another.  I guess truth is lost concept.

I'm a bit too idealistic I guess.
I'm updateing my resume...and will keep a daily eye open for something different.  All I can do..and just bide my time here till something better comes along.

Sorry it's sucking so bad, Pegg.

If it's any consolation, my first job out of college was with the Milwaukee Sentinel, part time working for the business page gathering stock and future prices off the wire services and formatting them for next day's publication. I was pretty excited to be working at a real newspaper. Even had one story published.

Not long and I realized that, for the most part, the people in the newsroom were negative, jaded, cynical drunks. The cynicism was infectious. I lasted 5 months. Never looked back.

I hope it gets better for you. Being in cycle doesn't help - it adds it's own flavor of negativity. We're all pullin' for ya.

*hugs* sorry you are rough week, sounds like it's been hell.

Just remember there is worse than happen.  Afte all we've been through with nearly losing Alex, perhaps if you think about one of your children and what nightmares that would bring it might make these problems a little less stressful.  It won't go away, but you' know there's be worse out there.

My philosophy?  When it comes to working at a job, think of it as a place to make some money and that's it.

I put my hopes and dreams into my family instead.  I find it a better use of my energy. Wink

Redd,

I'm surprised you forgot what most businesses do.

Basically, those that can, do, those that can't get promoted.

In my line of work it is worse.

It's not what you know and what you do,

It's who you know and who you do.

Hard work won't get you anything but a layoff check.

America as our parents knew it is long gone.

Thanks guys...sometimes one just needs a bit of a shot in the arm to keep going.

Cat, I've read of your trials as of late, and my hearts hurt for you, to where I'm at a loss for words.  I won't go into Dyl's history here.  But I feel your pain.  And yes  ritual is planned.

Things were going so well right up untill the first of the resignations came in.  Then it was like a vortex drawing more and more people to the deck to jump ship.

Just "when" it crossed over to a bad episode of the Twighlight Zone escapes me.  People took on personalities that  made you wonder when that evil mutant twin would surface, and when it did it was because they would do the exact opposite of what was sworn would NOT be done.

So anything I hear at this point I'm going to take with a grain of salt and expect the opposite.

Pegg sometimes synchronicity and the universe just like to mess around with us - I swear.....

I always just try to remember that there are always people worse off, and sometimes, ya just gotta laugh or you'll cry.

I was once asked by a respected member of this board, "how do you do it, CH with small children" and my answer was, "the same way everyone else here does".

Somehow we always find our way through, and just remember, each and every new sunrise is an opportunity for pure joy and pleasure.

Seek pleasure, don't just avoid pain, LIVE life, don't just exist in it.

I'll be joinin ya on the 2nd.

I thank the Goddess that you have a husband to help hold you up when your knees get weak and life takes these turns to test your resolve.  I'll think of you on the 2nd, as I have every day since you've been posting, and focus on your son as well.  There are more important things than a job, even if it does mean the roof over one's head and the food on the table.

Blessed Be to you and yours Cat...

And thank you.....
