Landmark Day for Me

Since the kids and I decided to move to the farm, they've been talking about furniture and trying to decide what they wanted and yadda yadda yadda. Last August we looked at furniture and dinning room sets were on the top of our list. Well we looked and they tataed and shook their heads and tataed some more and and..... Monday I went in a furniture store, saw a dinning room set and bar chairs that matched and sat down at the table, thought about it for about 5 minutes and bought the darn thing. They just delivered it and it's beautiful. Got to thinking about it and this is the first time I've ever bought a dinning room set in all the years I've been around. Bill and I've had kitchen tables - we've bought chairs - people have cleaned out their garages (got a Duncan Pfyee(sp) table one time and refinished it) and we've always had something to eat off of, but never bought anything before. Now I have something that actually matches.... That may sound silly to some of you younger "kids" but to some of you "older" ones among us - you may understand where I'm coming from. We grew up on "hand-me-downs" and just never thought anything about it. Back in my "younger days" there were three couples of us who used to "trade" furniture when we wanted something "new". That's how poor we all were. And we were just as happy as pigs in slop. Kids just don't appreciate things ... ya'll need to come see my new table and chairs -- they're really pretty. I'm about to polish the varnish off them. Can't wait for the kids to see them -- haven't told them about the purchase yet. Hugs BD

Congrats - you deserve it! (still cogitating on whether to buy two leather recliners AND a couch or just the chairs . . . .)
