Anyone get short hits?

I have never seen anyone post on the times hits last really, but last night I hit kip 9 out of my sleep, and was getting ready to inject 2mg's of imitrex, but began to feel better much faster than my normal.
I don't think I slept thru any part of this. My goal has been to just suck it up and take it as of late, with kip 6 topping the charts and so a waste of meds..
The event was over within 20 minutes...
I also wondered if some how traces of imitrex could have had any effect by perhaps getting on the glass syringe, but I can't see how that could happen in the first place, and if it did, would in enter my skin.
I simply can't account for this event, and wonder if anyone else had this happen.
A normal hit for lasts 45 to 90 ninutes....

Professor Goadsby has a theory that CH, Paroxysmal Hemicrania and Sunct are all in a loop so that - potentially - how you present this year could change by next year.
Given that you are having shorter hits it MAY be worth tryin Indometacin which is typically used for PH and SUNCT with great success. If it's going to work it'll work within a week. Its an nsaid so very cheap to try and what have you got to lose but pain?!
The only "downside" is its pretty harsh on the stomach so you do need to take a prescription strenth med to protect it really.

I've had those short hits quite a few times. It usually happens at the beginning or end of a cycle and almost always in the middle of the night.
I'll wake up with one that already has my eyes watering and it;ll ramp up and die within 1/2 hour. My usual (smack dab in the middle of the cycle is about an hour and a half start to finish...but it's not unheard of.
But like Helen said...try the indo. As long as you don't have any stomach issues...i.e ulcers and the like...

I get short hits sometimes. Last part of my last cycle I was getting 5 min ha's all the time.
It's hard to tell now though because I use O2 at the first sign so they get cut short no matter what. I like it that way. 
I'm not willing to go without O2 to see how long it would go. Especially after the super headache I had the other night.
I know alot of people suggest that short headaches are surely cph or sunct, and in some cases that may be true... But I think clusters morph. The beast does what ever it thinks it needs too to throw us off.

Thanks for the replies... This was a first time short hit for me.... This series have been more kip 6 and 7's lasting 45 to 90 minutes...
I seem to get Winter Spring more than Fall Winter.
last fall there were none and the fall before there were heavy shadows if and a problem if i had 1 beer, which told me not to have beer...
At kip 6 and 7 I won't do anything currently to try to stop them, as I am more interested in the pattern than just aborting. Unfortately I am no scientist...
Umm, I probably should already know what these terms mean, but I don't.
Could someone please explain cph and sunct......???

I get short hits, but if it goes over kip 7 it isn't gonna be short.
I am a primary right sider, but back in '95 started getting hits on the left. The left hits never seem to last as long or as brutal, but sometimes a very brief left hit is a sign a major one is coming on the right. Kind of like ping pong.

CPH is Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania "CPH normally consists of multiple severe yet short headache attacks. These attacks normally will only affect one side of the cranium, hence the term hemicrania. CPH headaches are treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, in particular indomethacin, which is usually totally effective in eliminating the symptoms."
SUNCT is Short-lasting, Unilateral, Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjunctival injection and Tearing. It is a rare form of headache that is most common in men after age 50. The disorder is marked by bursts of moderate to severe burning, stabbing, or throbbing pain, usually on one side of the head and around the eye or temple. Attacks typically occur in daytime hours and last from 5 seconds to 4 minutes per episode. Patients generally have five to six attacks per hour.
Both have symptoms very much like Clusters except that the attacks are very short and as is said above...Indomethacin is usually always effective in CPH and neck movement tends to bring on SUNCT symptoms.

Mine were usually about 20 minutes, now and then 30 but not often.
The technique sometimes cut them down to only a few minutes......sometimes.

I get a mixed bag, hits lasting 1 hour or more intermixed with short hits lasting 5 to 15 minutes. There's no identifyable pattern to their length or what mix I'll be presented with on a given night until each hit evolves.
This makes it diffult to determine if abortives actually provide relief. Even with a good journal my Neuro is often left scratching his head.
One thing that does stand out is that if I get several short hits in succesion over an evening/night, I'll frequently end the night's festivities with a hit of biblical proportions. As if the short hits were opening acts for the main attraction.

Thanks again.... I am not CHP that fully... But I am not SUNCT by the standards there either , but meet most of ther criteria.
out of context what seem the same is this:

All my hits are longer, right side only.
i am lefty and dyslexic as well incase any one is interested..
I really appreciate this place while it might not seem it....
I noticed johnny won't say much to me anymore, but i don't know why... Maybe it ain't nuthin...
